Describe the issue

Hi there, one of my playlists has completely disappeared and all of my play data over the last month or so has also disappeared. However, my main playlist that is connected to Qobuz is still up to date with all songs that I had recently added to it. Where did my other playlist go and all my recent music played?

Describe your network setup

I run roon on a simple laptop, over wifi. It is on windows 11, HP Elitebook 845 G7

Hey @Rewi_Stirrat,

Thanks for writing in and sharing your report! Sorry to hear about your profile stats and playlists missing!

Can you provide a bit more information around the missing content? Is it local content, or all Qobuz content? Is the playlist from Qobuz, or is this a playlist you’ve created in Roon?

Do you have any recent backups you’d be able to restore from? This will likely allow you the easiest path to restoring your prior profile settings. Head to Roon Settings>Backups>Find Backups and locate a recent backup to restore from.

Moving forward, you’ll likely have a better Roon experience if you setup a direct ethernet connection from your Roon Server machine to your primary router. :slightly_smiling_face:

Lastly, if you could please use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon Server logs to our File Uploader? Thank you!

The playlist and play data is mostly Qobuz content but also local files.

I will eventually set up a local roon server, but the entire thing is just running from my laptop at the moment.

I’ve uploaded my roon logs, thanks!

Hi @Rewi_Stirrat,

Thanks for sending those over! We’ll take a closer look at what might be going on.

It’s unclear if you were able to restore from a backup? This will be the best way to restore your previously saved settings.

Can you share the name of the specific playlist you’re missing?

Have you navigated to Roon Settings>Services>Qobuz and relogged into and resynced your account since experiencing this issue? This would be a good next step if you haven’t yet.

  • The most recent backup was in December of last year, so I was unable to restore my most recent play data
  • the name of the playlist was “Jazz”. It was only created on roon and therefore wasn’t something that synched with Qobuz. My personal playlist “Rewi” was synced with Qobuz, and that’s why I think it is still up to date because Qobuz must have been constantly resynching.
  • The “Jazz” playlist doesn’t exist in qobuz, it’s only been created in Roon. I’ve resynced with Qobuz and it doesn’t restore the jazz playlist because it never existed in qobuz.

Hey @Rewi_Stirrat,

Thanks for the additional information! We were able to review a fresh diagnostic report, and saw some traces that pointed to instability around your database, and potential database I/O corruption.

As a next step, could you please check the health of your Windows 11 drive? You can run chkdsk or a SMART test on the drive hosting your Roon database.

In regard to your play history - unless you have a more recent backup available, you may not be able to recover this data, unfortunately.

For your Jazz playlist, there is a way we may be able to get it added back to your current database.

First, follow the steps below to temporarily replace your current database with the older backup you’ve tested with (this backup has the missing jazz playlist):

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Then, restore Roon using your older backup that contains your playlist

Here is the process outlined from a Windows machine:

All Roon_old on Windows

After this, access the Jazz playlist and use the export function to export via Folder to a safe location, like your windows desktop. This will export all the media as well as the M3U file containing the playlist.

After you’ve successfully exported the Jazz playlist, close all instances of Roon and Roon Server.

Then, head back into your Database location, and rename your Roon_old and RoonServer_old back to Roon and RoonServer - and swap the new installation of Roon and RoonServer to Roon_old1 and RoonServer_old 1.

This will essentially revert your above work and will bring you back to your current Roon database.

Once your back to your current setup, go ahead and import your Jazz playlist folder - make sure to toggle on ‘Import other playlists’ which includes M3U.

This process should get you back to your current state with your missing playlist. Let me know if it all makes sense and if you have any other questions! :raised_hands:
