I know there are have been lots of threads already about this kind of thing but I couldn’t find an answer to my specific question. Apologies if I’ve missed it.
Is there a way of automatically adding a track to a playlist? For example, I have created a playlist called “favourites”. Is there a way of automatically any track I marks as “favourite” to this playlist or do I have to remember to do this each time I favourite a track?
Roon’s take on smart playlists is currently in early-access testing.
You can join the early-access testing if you want to and this is an important feature for you.

That certainly sounds towards what I’m after. One of the few things I miss from iTunes/Apple Music is the smart playlist functionality.
This functionality actually already exists (and has for a long, long time) in the form of Bookmarks.
The main thing is that they are not available in ARC.

Well, a bookmark that updates automatically, to be semantic about it 
…but yes, the thing about bookmarks is that they dynamically update based upon the Focus criteria you use when creating them!

Hope this gives you the gist. A word of warning about dates for tracks - Roon doesn’t currently honor individual track dates; it only honors album dates, so the track dates don’t work well for compilations. There is a feature request in for this - Please add Year to track listings (for both albums and playlists)
Thanks for that but that seems to be collections of artists rather than specific tracks which is what I’m after. Basically what I’d like to do is have a way of automatically adding any tracks I mark as a favourite to a certain playlist.
Those were just examples I had at hand. But what you want is trivially easy…Just bookmark this sort of view (“My Tracks” with the heart toggled on):
You might save this as “My Favourite Tracks”
Ok for the remote app but that won’t work in ARC will it? Hence me wanting a playlist that auto updates. Forgive me if I’m missing something.

So you might need to wait for the final release of the current Early Access build that has smart playlists.
