Hi @Michael_Coyle ,

Thanks for reaching out with your report. These are all local tracks, is this correct? Have you by any chance moved the music files recently? If you manually search for these tracks in Roon, are you able to find them? Also, can you please navigate to your Mac System Preferences → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders, and then check that Roon and/or RoonServer have access to your removable volume?

@Michael_Coyle,

If so, this thread (it’s long - but it helped me) might provide some answers because (Roon) playlists are in a simple and standard format which expects the path to each track to be in a specified place and with a specified syntax.

If you’ve moved (any of your) actual music files, as noris asks, then your playlists file(s) will probably need to be updated in that respect. It’s not too difficult  .

If needs be we can help with that.

These are all local tracks from the USB drive connected to my iMac server. The tracks are all accessible and playable if I search for them in Roon. I checked as you suggested and RoonServer definitely has access to removable volumes.

I haven’t moved any of my actual music files

Hey @Michael_Coyle,

Thanks for the additional information! We’ve seen some odd permissions issues pop up with users who’ve recently updated to Sequoia, could you try the following:

Navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

We’ll be on standby for your results :+1:

I tried this Benjamin but the problem stayed the same: all playlists unavailable plus a lot of music not showing at all under Albums and Artists.

Hello @Michael_Coyle ,

Can you please navigate to Roon Settings → Storage and see if the location for the media files is still active? I enabled diagnostics for your account and I am seeing mounting errors with a My Passport device, is this where the music is stored?

Which albums and artists are not showing up in Albums and Artists? Are they the ones from the playlist?

Also, have you tried to run a disk check on the drive? If the drive has started to fail, the symptoms you are seeing might be expected.

Yes - all my music is on the My Passport drive (see attached screenshot)

The missing albums are a mix of music on the playlists and music not in playlists. I can’t see any pattern to what is there and what is missing.

I haven’t run a disk check - how do I do this please as I’ve never run one before?

How do I initiate a disk check from this point?

Unfortunately, you can’t check/repair an NTFS disk on Mac, not even write to it. At least not with preinstalled Apple tools. NTFS is a proprietary Windows file system.

Do you have a Windows-using friend?

Michael,

Are you able to retrieve the files from the Passport (unfortunately a piece of hardware which has, shall we say, not the best reputation for reliability) at the filesystem level (using the Mac’s Finder) and copy them all onto a different external hard drive? These are good ones; and at least for the moment you could get away with a 1TB unit - like this one.

If so, you could then set your Roon storage up from scratch. Painful, I know. But it might save frustration in the long run?

Hey @Michael_Coyle,

Both @Suedkiez and @Mark_Sealey are steering you in the right direction here, certainly let me know if you have any additional questions along the way.

And with that, did you make any changes to your passport drive recently?
