Post-update sluggish performance across Roon system (ref#IB2S6V)

Describe the issue

After last update (not the security release today) my Roon system became very slugghish. The home page takes over 10 seconds to load below the first "Recent Activity" tab

Clicking links and digging into albums / artists etc takes "forever" to load. Lyrics often fail to load.

I see that "roon loading icon" all the time when navigating inside Roon.

Its the same accross different remotes (Macbook Air, Ipod , Ipad, Windows PC)

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! Two immediate follow-up tests for you:

  1. If you safely stop Roon Server, and reboot both your server machine as well as Roon remote devices, do you run into the same issue?
  2. If you temporarily disable Tidal and only load local content, do you experience the same behavior?

Will the team put up a banner on top of the forum before you find a hell hole when you come back on Monday because of ARC error 526 and various things on Home and elsewhere not loading?

Hi Benjamin,

  1. Restart of server and devices helps the general sluggishness (navigating albums / credits / focus etc), but it does nothing to the slow loading of home page. The sluggishness gradually comes back.
  2. Disabling Tidal made the home page load without any significant delay. It was as fast as normal.

General comment that I also noticed,
When a new track starts (if im playing a playlist) the next song will start playing, but the cover and track name don’t change before after 6-7 seconds. However, this only happens when i`m in the view where I can select Lyrics / Band Picture / Album Picture / Album Review / Artist Bio / Track Credits.

Following up on Benjamin’s post — we experienced some significant instability with our cloud infrastructure over the weekend, which directly impacted the loading times for the Home screen, recommendations, and metadata (like lyrics). This likely exacerbated the sluggishness you were seeing.

Now that these service issues have been resolved, has the performance of your Roon system returned to normal?

If you are still seeing frequent “loading” icons or delays, please let us know, and we can proceed with further troubleshooting (such as the test of temporarily disabling Tidal that Benjamin mentioned).

After I saw that the cloud issues was fixed but it was still an issue for me with sluggishness, I tried to disable background analyses.

afterwards my system ran like normal again. I have had the server running with no issues for a couple of years with background analysis set to «throttled» - not sure why all of a sudden this would be an issue.

It started with the update before the security update (think it was 2.59)

I guess that is something for the team to look into, perhaps something happened with background analysis in 2.59?
