I know this is not Roon-related (at least not yet), but I’ve just noticed that the Presto Music streaming service has developed their own streaming device. Anyone here tried it, and any thoughts? Primarily interested in how it sounds from the Toslink/Optical out, as I wouldn’t expect it’s internal DAC to wow anyone.
I’ve been hoping for Roon and Presto integration, but knowing now they went this way, wondering if that means it’s not in the cards. I do know they integrated with BluSound.
Presto is certainly superior to all other desktop (I know that Apple’s classical service is iOS-only atm) Classical music service - in terms of what’s available and how easy it is (Composer > Work > Performer) to find it.
There are rumours (unconfirmed and unattributable) that Presto is planning/hoping for/considering Roon integration. But no dates or firm facts.
Today, co-incidentally, is the one year anniversary of their streaming service.
I’ve bought most of my hi-res audio files from Presto - even a book or score or two. It is very easy to find music - also has an iOS app. I do hope Roon can integrate w Presto - or even my new Focus 50’s. The other streaming platforms seem much worse for classical.
