Audio devices that previously appeared are no longer there...
Describe your network setup
My MacBook Air is currently my Roon Core, and my streamer (Primare NP5 MK2) is hard-wired to the network. I previously set it up with Roon and it was working. This morning I noticed it’s no longer listed, along with all Chromecast enabled devices. They are all missing as output devices from Roon.
Welcome to the forum! As @Suedkiez 's linked thread mentions, please check macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and make sure Roon is allowed. If you have verified this, please also try to perform a full restart of your Roon Server and ensure that there are no firewalls which could be blocking Roon from communicating with other devices on the network.
Same thing happened to me with Roon running on Mac Mini M2 8/256, after updating to latest Roon-version (build 1480) this evening. No other changes to system. All audio devices disappeared. EXTREMELY annoying.
The fix described above worked, thank you to @Suedkiez. Still somewhat unimpressed that a system update breaks peoples setup without any word from Roon AHEAD of downloading the update!
The problem is in macOS 15 and it also occurred for many Roon users before the Roon update; I don’t think the Roon update caused it.
macOS 15 has become more strict with some security settings and it looks to me like a macOS bug that you have to toggle the setting although it already appears as enabled. Roon is investigating the issue - I don’t know why it affects some users but apparently not all.
This has now ocurred AGAIN after updating to latest Roon-version (build 1483) this morning. No other changes to system. All audio devices disappeared. EXTREMELY annoying. Restarting the Mini does not solve the problem. Roon has local network access.
Fixed it now - it actually takes two toggles, and an additional restart, to fix. The first toggle only revealed my Wiim Pros as Airplay-available, after the second they were seen as Roon-ready. Must say this whole thing is a bit of a disappointment after having run rock-solid since June last year with no troubles or issues.
I had the same problem. The toggle and the reboot fixed it.
The problem is with increased security in MacOS, but it would be useful if Roon had a way of detecting that it did not have adequate LAN access and alerted the user. I do not know if that is possible, however.
