Problem with Roon

Did anything happen to Roon? It was updated today and stopped working. Nothing happens when I click on the icon now.

How do I get this fixed?

To clarify - running Roon on a Mac Mini. Never had an issue. The program won’t launch from it’s icon. The Core is not running anywhere as I cannot reach it form any other device. Poking through the Activity Monitor does not show any room related activity anywhere… I presume I’m going to have to reinstall it ? If so, how do I do that?

Before installing anything, have you tried a reboot?

Hi @Cemil ---- Thank you for the report and sorry to hear of the troubles.

I agree with @Rugby’s suggestion (:+1:) before anything please try rebooting the core machine first and let us know if you are still having an issue.

Yes rebooted it twice - no change. Dead. Clicking on the icon doesn’t do anything.

Continuing forward, in light of the above I would like recommend trying to reinstall the application by downloading the latest version directly from our website here.

How do I restore form the Roon Backup after reinstalling?

I;ve just noticed that the last back up is in Nov 2017. I presume the automated backup did not work ? I also presume that it will rescan the discs and reindex everything, but I will lose my tidal additions since then ?

Hi @Cemil ---- Thank you for touching base with me. A few things moving forward, please see below.

  • In regard to reinstalling, this procedure will have no adverse affects on your Roon DB and as such all of your edits, playlists, etc. So the goal is to just reinstall the application and not to wipe out the Roon database. The best way to do this is to visit our website using the link above, download, and install the most recent version of the application. I repeat, you do not want to delete your Roon DB.

  • Did you have your automated backups configured according to the guide lines in our knowledge base?
