Just read about a new streaming service that would have multi-channel music and HiRes music. Perhaps Room cam look into working with them as they are new and may be willing to integrate with Room.
$300 for just 300 tracks? Seems a little steep.
Yes. It is steep.
I’m just a Roon user, like many, that loves music. I tried the service and here’s what I found… I was curious as my processor just got a firmware update to support AC Connect (like Tidal Connect) that Pure Audio Streaming uses to play direct to processor with App control.
- $25/month is a premium price. They offer a 7 day free trial when you sign up so you can also try.
- Requires Auro3D support to get the most from the content
- Content is a bit niche but there is a variety (Jazz, Classical, Blues, Acoustic, Rock, etc).
- The App (on iOS), it’s not bad but not great either. It’s a new service and I experienced the occasional crash of the app (3x over the course three 2 hours listening session). I was encouraged to see regular updates with bug fixes over the last several weeks/months.
- About 1/3 of albums I tried to play weren’t accessible. The app would bring up the album and then just perform a “next track” from first through last and not play any content. I would close the app and try again and same behaviour. Not sure if it’s my processor firmware, a bug in the app or content restriction in my region. Regardless, tough to not be able to access 1/3 of a limited library.
- Now on to the star of the show, literally. The sound quality is OUTSTANDING! I am very fortunate to have excellent gear but it’s an order of magnitude better (no joke) than Tidal Atmos, Apple Music surround, etc from a sound quality standpoint. The breadth and depth of immersive content available on Tidal / Apple Music bests this service but the content quality and how it sounds is something else!!
- I wrote to support about my content access issues and cancelled (for now) until they are resolved or more content is added that I can access. Hopefully they contact me to work to resolve or explain what’s going on.
My recommendation would be to give it a try. See what you’re missing and if you can access more content than I was able to. It’s worth experiencing for a period of time (even a week) to see what you might be missing and/or your system is capable of.
Hi Scott,
If you’d like to check out our Pure Streaming service again, just drop a note to our support email and we’ll add you to the testing group.
Happy to have you on board whenever you’re ready.
Best regards,
The PAS Team
Hi Andrija, it’s been a minute, appreciate you reaching out. Would like to believe Pure Audio and/or my processor software have had the time to improve and sort out the problems I experienced.
I’ll reach out to try things again and share what I find here.
Thanks!
