· I Have QNAP NAS, you pushed an update, it has stopped my roon working. I got the docker version working, but I didnt have time to make a backup of my server config and library, now everything is lost, please help, I am a long term customer of roon this is extremely frustrating
I understand this is a very difficult situation. Moving from a native app to Docker is a major change, and while we always stress the importance of maintaining regular Roon backups, we realize you’re now in a position where you have to try and rescue the raw data.
Please keep in mind that what follows is a manual workaround, not a standard or recommended procedure. Since you don’t have a formal Roon backup, this “best-effort” migration of your database files is the only way to potentially recover your configuration.
Manual Database Rescue
1. Stop the Docker Container Before moving any files, ensure your Roon Docker container is completely stopped in Container Station.
2. Locate and Move the Raw Data
In QNAP File Station, find your old native Roon installation folder (look for RoonServer or check the .qpkg directories).
Locate the specific folder named Database.
Copy that folder and Paste it into your new Docker host directory, replacing the default folder created by the container.
3. Repoint (Don't Delete) Your Music Paths If the move is successful and you can connect to the server, your music will likely appear as "Unavailable" (in red) under Settings > Storage.
CRITICAL: Do not delete these red entries. If you delete them, your playlists and history will be permanently scrubbed.
Instead, click the 3-dots menu next to the red path and select Edit.
Update the path to point to your music folder inside the container (usually /Music).
A note for the future: Once (and if) you get back up and running, please prioritize setting up a scheduled Roon backup to a different drive or a cloud service. Relying on the raw database files without a backup is extremely risky and is likely why you're in this position today.
We hope this manual transfer works for you. Let us know the results once the file copy is finished.
