Qobuz favorite artists list in Roon not updating (ref#YS7R6F)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· App interface looks or behaves oddly

Tell us what's going on

· The list of Qobuz favourite artists in Roon never changes and bears no resemblance to any of my favourite artists. How is Roon building this list? I can’t see anything in Qobuz either. There are some bands in this list that I never listened to. The artist list hasn’t changed for months and there are a couple in the list that I don’t recognise even if they had been guests on other albums.

Roon adds the Primary Artist (and perhaps some other, limited credit roles) from the albums in My Albums to My Artists. It does NOT use artists that you separately favorited in the Qobuz app.

The most likely, typical cause for this is that these artists are listed as primary artist on some of your albums, perhaps although they shouldn’t be. It happens, and this would be a problem with the album’s metadata. (In this case, edit the album credits and remove them).

Why is the list not changing? It’s been months since the last update. I don’t even see artists that I regularly listen to.

The My Library > Artists list has nothing to do with what you listen to. It is a view of your library and thus its content depends ONLY on the albums that you add to your Roon library (i.e., the primary artist credits of these albums.) And you have these sort options:

If you want to look at what you have been listening to, go to Browse > Home > What you’ve been listening to. This shows your artists/albums by “most listened” order:

Click More and you can choose the time frame:

Or go to Browse > Home > Recent Activity > Played > More

Or go to Browse > History but this is just a flat list and you can’t sort or search, so this is quite limited.

If you want to retain a complete list of everything you played, you can use Last.fm scrobbling:

Another option is to go to My Albums > Focus and choose “Played in the last…”:

I’m not raising an objection with the Roon front page. That’s perfectly fine it’s the Qobuz homepage within Roon that’s the problem. I don’t really understand what this section is for because the key word is favorite (sic). If the idea is to list favourites then it should reflect my listening tastes and not attempt to be clever or use some algorithm to work out something that bears no resemblance to reality. If it can’t reflect my taste then I’ll just ignore it. Better still make it configurable so I can remove it from view.

Sorry, I was confused about what you were referring to. I never use Roon > Browse > Qobuz > My Qobuz because it is so limited. So you are referring to this?

As far as I can tell this reflects the artists that you favorite in Qobuz. I don’t think it has anything to do with what you listened to either. The list in Roon reflects the artists favorited in my Qobuz app (in “sort by date added” order):

It doesn’t. It shows artists that you explicitly favorite with the favorite button in the Qobuz app.

If yours doesn’t reflect this relationship to the explicitly favorited artists in the Qobuz app, then something would be wrong.

If you want to know what you listened to, I think the info from my previous post is relevant, though.

Solved. There is a section buried in the Qobuz showing followed (not favourite) artists. Deleted them all and there is nothing showing in Roon anymore.

Where is this, please?

Edit: I see, there seems to be some inconsistency between Quboz apps. What‘s listed under „Favorites“ in the desktop app, and visualized with the  button as in my above screenshot (but called Subscribe/Unsubscribe in the tooltip of the desktop app) seems to be equivalent to what’s called „Follow“ in the phone app:

This seems to be the same thing under the hood and is what controls the content of „Qobuz favorite artists“ as shown in my screenshot above.

I’ve deleted everything and can’t see how a favourite artist can be added now. It doesn’t seem to be through the the favourite album function. I am using the Android version of Qobuz.

As shown in my previous post, in the phone app this seems to be called „Follow Artist“. This is from the iOS phone app:
