I’ve split out the posts on the degraded Qobuz experience in Roon to a Feedback topic…
I was always wondering why there isn’t some benefit for Roon subscribers when purchasing! Files from the Qobuz store.. like a additional discount.
Roon and qobuz sublime seem to be kinda made for each other and should complement each other perfectly.
If you like Qobuz take advantage as prices are going up!
I received the offer here in the US. I’m not sure why some have been targeted for the offers and others not.
Absolutely not a good sign.
I live in Denmark and I am on my first year of Qobuz subscription
Before I had Tidal. But Qobuz just sounds better
I really hope they don’t go bankrupt
Qobuz is offering a nice opportunity to loyal customers so that they are not affected by the price increment of 1st of October.
This has nothing to do with going bankrupt, but only a way of pleasing the loyal customers.
Roon, at a certain moment, also told their customers in advance for a price-increase, so that people were able to go lifetime before the price increase. And as you all know, Roon didn’t went bankrupt!
So just be pleased with the offer if you are interested, and don’t panic if you are not interested.
Kind regards, Frank.
This is clearly a sign of a cash strapped company seeking to raise revenue as quickly as possible. I love QOBUZ and wish them well but I see red flags. Now, if it were a large company like Apple with billions and billions of dollars in cash, I would jump right in. But rumors have been circulating for years, and to my mind, this simply reinforces the rumors that they are cash-strapped.
The 3y in advance offer with the price increase at the near horizon is for sure not a nice gift for customers. It’s to put customers under kind pressure to move to the 3y payment.
Qobuz needs money quickly and that’s for sure unfortunate ![]()
What is there to be worried about. i have been paying $129 a year for the last 4 years. Before the price drop it was $149 for a year I’ve never done Qobuz with the monthly payment. I also did the same thing with Roon in 2015 I paid for 2 months then I was presented a special offer and I paid for a lifetime subscription $449 or $499 and I’ve never looked back.
Usually, companies ask for quick money because they (really) need it (quickly).
No. they offen do that to finance CAPEX projects. They don’t have to pay interest rates
How does this contradict to the above? They are a rather small company making loss every year. Without substantially financial support over a longer period such a small company cannot survive or even grow.
Anyway, I hope for the best.
It is all about cashflow. Many companies do that to finance there expansion.
But again time will show. I have signed up for 3 years ![]()

Me, personally. There are many other things in this current version of humanity that I should be more worried about. At the moment it costs yearly approx £132, which I am more than happy to pay, as the family and I think it is tremendous value. If the price increases, it’s kind of expected. When I don’t think it’s good value I will stop using it, or, if the company folds, then, we find another option.
Semper Ad Meliora!
Thanks Frank, it’s nice to get some positive feedback from someone with privileged access to Qobuz (I assume you have access to the corporate marketing strategy)…![]()
I have been a Qobuz subscriber for 7 years and the annual cost dropped a lot over that time as many improvements were released.
They now charge roughly the same as other services that have either less quality audio or less (or no) hardware integration.
I still like their curation and editorial approach more than their competitors too, though it is not central when only using Qobuz through Roon. It was the same when using it through hardware integration until they released Connect with many brands. I enjoyed it a lot this summer when listening on a streamer in a guest house without Roon.
I don’t know why they make that offer but it’s a brand I tend to trust more than most and I believe a price hike (or hikes over 3 year) is inevitable, so why not lock in and let’s see what happens.
I did it with a Roon lifetime subscription a few years ago (another product I really like) and so far so good ![]()
I don’t know if I should be worried. I like Qobuz and want to support them so I took it.
I am worried that the same offer wasn’t made to loyal customers who pay them even more money with the Sublime tier. I know I certainly don’t purchase downloads each year to make it a deal for myself, but I like supporting Qobuz so just maintain the Sublime cost. I would go lifetime too.
Customer retention is a high priority for any subscription based company. What better way than to close three-year contracts with loyal customers? Not necessarily a sign of cash-flow problems. In fact, Qobuz can use this to get better terms with other financiers. I’m not privileged to any financial information about Qobuz, but am not necessarily alarmed.
I had a “chat” with “Clara” the Qobuz bot. Here are excerpts: If you received an email about the special three-year offer, it’s legitimate and you can follow the guidance provided in that email! Our standard subscription options remain monthly or annual renewals that automatically renew at the end of each period.
Not all subscribers received the three-year offer. Special promotional offers like this are typically sent to select customers rather than our entire subscriber base.
Currently, our standard subscription options are monthly or annual renewals that automatically renew at the end of each period.
Based on our available information, there isn’t a general price increase scheduled for October 1st. However, we did launch our new Studio Student subscription on October 1st, 2024, which offers students a discounted rate of $4.99 per month.
The most recent price adjustment we made was in November 2023, when Studio Solo subscription prices increased in Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. Our Duo and Family subscription prices have remained unchanged.
For the most current pricing information and any updates, I’d recommend checking your account at qobuz.com or our offers page to see what’s available in your region.
We do have a policy regarding notifications for annual subscribers. For annual subscriptions, we commit to informing customers no earlier than three months and no later than one month before the renewal date about their option not to renew their subscription.
However, this notification policy specifically relates to renewal reminders rather than general price increase announcements. The terms don’t specify a separate notification requirement for price changes themselves.
