Radio stations fail to play

Wired ethernet to Ropiee or airplay to sonos speaker

Description of Issue

All radio stations fail to play after a few seconds, sometimes get this error Playback interrupted because track failed to load
Qobuz and local music play just fine
I rebooted core that did not work.
Tried adding new stations and several types of stream quality and they all failed.

I’m new to Roon and had same issue. Was a codec thing. Seems a lot of my local stations stream in AAC. Roon doesn’t natively support it. I had to install a file in the bin folder. I’m running my core on a Synology NAS. Search AAC install there are some good instructions/ links to do it.

Thanks, odd that it would fail on FLAC, mp3, and AAC streams. Could it be a Codec if these file types play Local music or Qobuz? I would think they would not. I will download an AAC file and give it a try anyway. I know MP3 and FLAC work

I got them here John Van Sickle - FFmpeg Static Builds He has instructions there also. Just have to make sure you get the correct file for the hardware your core is on.

Hi @Mike10100,

Are you still encountering this problem with radio stations? The tech support team is standing by to take a deeper dive into recent logging if @Carguy’s workaround doesn’t help.

The log snippet you shared contains traces suggesting multicast might be having issues on your network. I’d reverify that multicast is enabled and your router firmware is up-to-date in the meantime.

Thank you for the reply, I did try reload and my Codecs per @Carguy suggestion, That did not clear up the issue. I have been looking into my windows firewall ( my core machine is a Win10 box as stated in my initial post). Just to confirm that MultiCast should only be available on my internal Lan?

Hi @Mike10100,

Please accept our apologies for omitting a response to your last question - multicast should be a setting in your router web administration settings. The Windows Firewall exceptions you’ll need can be found here, although there’s no direct evidence the firewall is the culprit from logs.

Do you have any issues if you play to the System Output (Wasapi, ASIO, etc) of the Windows Core? What about removing the HiFiBerry?

How is this Core connected to the internet? Is it hardwired to a switch, or to the main router? Are these Netgear switches managed?

Thank you for getting back, I have resolved the issue. The cause is still a little unknown, but I believe it was an issue with my firewall Sophos Home. It is about 7 years old and I think the SSD was failing causing random “issues”.
My log seems clean now and no playback issues for live radio, Qobuz, or Library files.
