Description of Issue

I made recordings of two BBC classical concerts and saved them as M4a files. They are big, 500MB, three hour concerts done all in one file. I posted them to my Roon monitored music directory in which I have all my other music files. Roon does not seem to recognize them and I can’t find a way to force Roon to list them among available tracks. Help? How do I get Roon to play them?

What codec did you use and what software did you use to save them? m4a can be an MPEG-4 file with an m4a extension and then don’t work. It also seems (based on other posts about m4a on the forum) that some converters produce m4a files with other codecs (e.g. ALAC) but broken file headers that don’t work either.

Are they shown in Skipped Files?

Thanks, This was helpful. I recorded them with a program called soundflower on a Mac and they were skipped due to the codec. I changed them to Flac files with DBpoweramp and they worked fine.
