I listen to the radio from Roon. For the last few weeks, playback always interrupts after about 15 minutes. When I try to give the play again I find that Roon Serve is somehow disconnected or broken. I have to wait to stop the UI app and connect to the Roon Server again. Windows server on which Rooon is running are fine and eorking well. After another 15-20 minutes again, playback will break. Uff.
It sounds like there are 2 disconnections happening.
- Roon core to the radio provider
- Roon core to your roon remote
So my suspicion is that something is causing a roon core disconnect on your windows server.
If it’s always 15 minutes, it may well be some sort of windows idle setting.
Not a windows expert - but perhaps have a look at the power saving settings. One option is to start by turning them all off.
If that helps you can then be more thoughtful.
Problem is with the connestion ROON Core <-> Roon remote, and it with any, with everyone.
It did not do so lately so I suspect that starts with the latest versions of Roon Server Software.
I will try to search in Windows settings. If you have a more specific tip, I will be grateful to you.
A disconnect with the roon remote wouldn’t stop the radio playing - so it’s likely to be a roon core / windows problem.
Afraid I don’t use windows - so hard to help more.
Good luck.
Ok Greg, thanks, and who can help me?
I went through the Windows settings and I didn’t find anything meaningful. I just turned off the automatic Power Saving Settings is OK, everything is turned off.
It is still uncertain that it is not really in Ronn server SW.
I only turned off the automatic Windows update.
Sometimes there is an option on the WiFi driver to save power, you could check there.
If your laptop is connecting via WiFi - you could try connecting it via an Ethernet if you can.
We really need a windows expert!
Hi Greg!
For the Roon server I use serparate HW - audiophile modified NUC computer NUC8I5BEK with installed MS Windows 11 Pro. So I turned off here completely Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection.
So far it holds, so it looks like it helped.
Thanks for tips and your effort.
The computer is just connected via cable directly to the router.
Unfortunately, it did not help completely. It does but no so much often. With a greater time gap.
Moved from #uncategorized to #support to give more visibility
Thanks Suedkiez!
Another tip: I turned off Power Management directly in the Windows Device Manager on the Ethernet Connection device. So I didn’t allow the computer to turn off the device to save power. (The computer is powered from the mains) So I will test. That should help I hope.
Hello, tested: It HELPS!
Solved:
Windows → Device Manager → Network adapters → Ethernet Connection device → Properties → Power management → Didn’t allow the computer to turn off the device to save power.
So glad you found the issue!
Thanks to You Greg!
Hi @Jiri_Rozinek,
Are you still experiencing interruptions? The tech support team is standing by to pull diagnostics and assist further if you’re having problems beyond the energy settings of the network hardware.
Thank you!
Hi,
no, no longer interrupts.
I have already solved it, see. description of my solution above.
Regards
Jiri
Sounds good, @Jiri_Rozinek, just double-checking. Thank you!
