Release 2024.01

Boot loop on one of mine. Stuck at the “init” stage - pulling the power and restarting just sends it back into “init”.

I’ll hold off updating my other three units.

init stage can take long.
what does it say on the screen?

I wasn’t aware that Ropieee was phoning home for config changes at boot. I thought this would have required a fw change.

Anyway, rebooted, did a screen rotate configuration change, reconfigured, rebooted again and same “powering off HDMI …”

It’s the “wrapping up installation, please wait” screen.

I left it for 2 hours, thought that should be long enough. Will leave it now until the morning to see if it recovers.

Can you send me feedback?

Updated 2 headless P!4 no problem, playing perfect. Thanks Harry!

Changed config, rebooted and result is the same. Massively flickering screen. It didn’t hang at powering off HDMI, but the screen is entirely corrupt with the Welcome! logo overlaid on the album cover and the artist name text corrupted. Here’s the log identifier: 3a028e29fbb1dcfb

can you reboot and directly send me feedback?

Just did eb4e8d95367d66bb

You’re probably getting pretty tired of me, but try again:

reboot
change parameter (rotation for example)
configure
reboot

Not tired at all, appreciate you looking at it. Doing these steps now.

Boom! Solved. UI started and able to access controls as normal.

I sent another feedback in case you want to review the output: 029b1d602c2f37b1

Thanks Harry!

Ok thanks.

I’m very, very sorry this happened. But at least people can recover from it.

For those confronted with issues (units that use either a screen or use a HAT, USB users are not affected):

  • reboot your unit
  • trigger a configure (by changing a not-so-important setting, like screen rotation)
  • configure
  • reboot

And it will be resolved.

See the latest posts.

  • reboot
  • trigger a configure
  • reboot

Ok, but that could be just the webinterface. I suggest you close your tab and try to reach the unit with a fresh tab in your browser.

The reboot, reconfigure, reboot worked for me.
Thanks!

Going to try this as soon I’m back home and will report!

You seem to have fixed it Spockfish. Thanks again and we should all donate.
