This is a fairly modest release, but it brings the latest kernel (back) to the Allo Usbridge. Although the device is unsupported, as well as its ethernet chipset driver, there are still a lot of users out there (including myself). So yeah, maintaining that driver myself is a burden, but I think it’s worth it.
So here’s the complete changelog:
NEW: latest kernel available for Allo Usbridge
IMPROVEMENT: update HQPlayer NAA component
IMPROVEMENT: update Linux kernel
IMPROVEMENT: add donation option ‘Buy Me a Coffee’
FIX: remove Spotify username/password fields
As always it will take a few hours before this update turns up on your device.
Update went smooth on my Raspberry Pi 3B with iQaudiO hat, thanks @spockfish for all your hard work everything seems to be running fine on release 2024.10.
First of all thanks for all the great work to maintain RoPieee.
Regarding the Allo Usbridge update I would like to know if this includes the Allo Usbridge Signature support too. Besides that I see that both Allo Usbridge versions no longer appear in the Audio Hat selector in RoPieee configuration. How to set that up now?.
It appears that the Pi 3 image is broken for the Pi Zero 2 W.
I have Ropieee on two Pi 4B s and two Zero 2 Ws, all on 2024.09.01. I got the upgrade notification today on both the 4B s and one of the Zeros. I’m glad it didn’t show up on the other Zero .
The upgrade went fine on both the 4B s, but it seems to have bricked the Zero. I waited over 30mins and it didn’t complete. The LED alternated long and short flashes. Recycling power didn’t help.
I thought maybe the SD card got corrupted due to bad luck, so I re-flashed it with the latest Pi 3 image ropieeexl_ose_pi3-2024.10.0-stable.20241026.1839.bin.xz. Same problem. Doesn’t boot, so doesn’t create the Ropieee-* WiFi access point.
I then re-flashed it with the previous version 2024.09.01 (fortunately ropieeexl_ose_pi3-2024.9.1-stable.20240928.1801.bin.xz still available on your website) and was able to successfully complete the setup.
Thanks.
PS: I didn’t want to start a new thread to avoid alarming people
This update is for the Signature model. Ropieee will not work or install on the original USBridge that uses the Sparky SBC board.
The USBridge Sig is built around an RPi Compute Module which is why it is able to run Ropieee.
This is the original model USBridge that will NOT run Ropieee:
I got this, but I had to do a reflash. The update, over Verizon wireless and WIFI, seemed to get stuck. Or, maybe I didn’t give it enough time to finish. Thanks Harry.
