Repeated Roon database corruption after latest update to v2.56 (build 1582).
About a month ago I started having repeated database corruption issue and open this ticket (ref#GALY6A). Ultimately, I reinstalled RoonServer and that took care of the problem. Roon ran flawlessly for almost 3 weeks with no issues.
This week when v2.56 came out, I installed the update and as soon as the update completed Roon failed to start and reported database corruption. I restored a backup and it ran ok for about a day and then another database corruption. Something just doesn't seem right here. I'm going by memory but the corruption messages in the logs seem a bit different than what I was seeing several weeks ago.
I believe the earlier issue was indeed fixed by the reinstall since it ran flawlessly for weeks so this new problem seems like it was caused by the update installation.
Describe your network setup
I have a fairly simple network. A main router connected to the internet and then several other unmanaged switches. Most Roon devices are wired connections with a few using wifi. I have no connectivity issues and its been stable like this for 9 months or more.
Thanks for reaching out. I have activated diagnostics for your account and what this does is deliver a log set to our servers for review. Looking over this log set, I see that you are getting actual corrutption:
Have you by any chance tried too run a disk check on the affected Roon Server yet? When there is reccuring corruption, this can often be a sign of a failing hard drive. While not endorsed by Roon, I personally use
We’re reaching back out to ensure you saw the response above. Latent corruption can quickly balloon into a serious issue that threatens your Roon database integrity. Recurring corruption is often a sign of a failing physical element in your setup, most commonly the hard drive itself.
We recommend the physical health of your hard drive using either the tool above or an equivalent.
Please reach out if we can provide any further clarification. Thank you.
