Finally got my main rig re-established over the weekend after a 10 month renovation project that had me out of my primary residence. Was very excited as I brought things back online, only to be disappointed that it seems my microRendu took the holiday as an opportunity to move to the great beyond. Assuming I can’t get out the paddles and bring it back to life, looking for ideas as a replacement network bridge. The microRendu connects to a Benchmark Dac3 as the flagship Roon endpoint in my system. Anyone have success with one of the network bridges that show on Roon’s website, such as the iFi Zen streamer?
I am in a similar situation. So far I haven’t found an option I am comfortable buying. The ones that I expect will sound good (Holo Audio Red and Denafrips Arce) might be overkill for the system in this room. But I am concerned that I will not be happy with the sound quality of the iFi Zen stream.
Since I need a DAC as well, I might consider a streamer/DAC combo.
In any case, I’m interested in hearing what others recommend as replacements for the microRendu.
ultraRendu? opticalRendu? I have two of those and they are a big step up from the previous Rendus.
Update: decided to try the Zen Streamer. I had a wyred4sound PS-1 underutilized, so I bought the Zen Streamer and immediately powered it with the w4s. Very happy so far. Streams to Benchmark DAC3B via SPDIF at the moment.
