Replacing Sonos Connect (S1 - 2017) for Roon and Streaming

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to replace my Sonos Connect (S1 from 2017) with a more modern device that offers better sound quality and full compatibility with Roon while maintaining similar functionality.

My current setup:
• Amplifier: Denon (model with pre-out)
• Vinyl playback: The analog signal comes from the Denon
• Streaming: I use Roon + Tidal + my local Roon library
• Network: Stable WiFi with Ethernet available
• Current Sonos Connect usage:
• Sending my vinyl playback across the network to be played on other Roon zones
• Listening to Tidal and my Roon library on my main audio system
• Ease of use: Controlled from the Sonos app

What I need in a replacement:
• Full Roon compatibility (preferably Roon Ready, but Roon Bridge could also work)
• Analog input to integrate my Denon’s output into Roon
• Support for streaming services like Tidal Connect and native integration with my Roon library
• WiFi and/or Ethernet connectivity
• Digital output (optical/coaxial) and/or analog RCA output for flexible connections to my system

Options I’m considering:
1. Bluesound Node X – Seems like the closest direct replacement for the Sonos Connect, with Roon Ready, analog input, and full streaming support.
2. iFi Neo Stream – A more premium option with better DAC and balanced outputs.
3. ….

What do you think is the best alternative in terms of sound quality and price?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from those who have experience with these devices or know of other solid alternatives I might have overlooked.

Thanks in advance!

I’m in the same situation. Sonos 1 came with the house I bought a few years ago and fails more than works. I will replace it but having trouble understanding the choices.
