ROON doesn’t show me albums consecutively by version number 1-24. Possibly a 0 must be used for versions in the single-digit range? But since I have a lot of albums, I can’t edit them all. In addition, other programs / APPS show me the albums numerically?
ROON takes individual titles out of an album, for example About Berlin 13, and lists them under a separate album (About Berlin 13). These tracks will then not be listed in the album.
The path of About Berlin 13 is identical for the entire album, ID3 tags are all the same, sampler (compilation) is stored in the ID3 tag. There are no more ID3 tags as listed. File, not ROON, is activated in the library settings.
Other albums are still displayed as a whole and not picked apart.
About Berlin is just one example, it also happens with other albums, whether “sampler” or “interpreter”.
Select both albums, click (…) button > Edit > Merge
As for the order, it’s generally quite common in software to sort numbers lexically, like text. E.g, Windows File Explorer does this with file names.
Arguably, Roon should treat it numerically, but there’s nothing you can do about that. (Other than adding filler zeroes). I think this would be a Feature Suggestions
Hello,
Thank you. There are too many albums and series that I have to edit them all afterwards. I edit new albums and then save them, all albums are edited in the ID tags according to the same pattern, unnecessary tags (for me) have been removed. I have some torn albums, others with the same ID tags are not torn. I also believe that it is variable and changes which album is torn, today this, tomorrow that. I am also sure that I did not tear any album from the About Berlin series last week. I use the series while exercising and always choose a different album, I think it would have stood out.
I still just tried it out on “About Berlin 13”.
I can “merge” the albums or “re-read the album”, About Berlin 13 would then be “safe” (for now). In addition, other albums appear torn apart. See example below compared to the first screenshot (About Berlin 1). This album was not touched, but after editing About Berlin 13 it was torn apart.
I just turned on Minim and Logitech Squeeze and checked, I didn’t tear up the albums there.
Excuse me!
Now, after writing the message, I looked again and saw a different picture. During this time nothing was done in ROON or the albums, nor does ROON show any library activity.
It’s alive?!
About Berlin 13 is also torn up again, just with a different track.
Since I actually only use ROON with my library, not streaming services, it’s really modest. The search or the library in ROON hasn’t really been a hit yet, but it doesn’t work that way either. Especially since the simple MinimServer displays its own library sensibly.
Ok, you might be another victim to an ongoing issue where Roon splits up Various Artist albums seemingly at random and then merges them back together. I’ll try to find this thread
Hello,
Thank you! I look at the forum every day, but hadn’t seen it or found it.
I linked my post there. Maybe you can merge them so it isn’t duplicate. However, the creation of the original is several months old and I’m not sure if it’s still being worked on?
I won’t open a new support request and see what happens.
Yes, the issue is still generating complaints, precisely because it has been going on for months. Just 21 hours ago, Sloop John B posted on the other thread to report a new instance of albums splitting up spontaneously.
I don’t have privileges to move posts into another thread. @Roon_Moderators ?
Due to the library display / search function and the handling of files, I have set all settings (Settings > Library > Import settings > Mata data setting for albums) to File since the beginning, except for initial publication, which is set to ROON. That’s why I don’t understand what ROON is doing with it, normally ROON would just have to strictly adhere to and display the TAGS and file path (file).
Just played with DISCTOTAL and TRACKTOTAL in TAG, but the changes here have no effect on the display in ROON.
It seems to be a bug triggered by something. In the other thread, people are reporting spontaneous splitting and just as spontaneous re-merging, just like you. Clearly something is wrong.
I would not be surprised if it’s linked to the issue that affects the album counts after using Focus and then it shows duplicates of albums that are not duplicated and the album count shows a number in excess of what you have.
We need to see less updates like smart playlists and fix fundamental issues with the database. Priorities at moment are not right for this product. It’s been in this state far too long.
There is a main folder (About Berlin) with 23 folders, each with a version of About Berlin (Vol.1 - Vol.23) stored in the path, in the respective folders are the subfolders with CD1, CD2 or CD1, CD2, CD3 etc.
Due to the fact that some albums are torn, 27 albums are displayed today.
I only created a focus on that label because the simple search function for About Berlin was very limited. There are albums that are not included in the search function or albums appear that have absolutely no connection to About Berlin. Also a numerical representation of the albums by VOL. It’s not possible, I’m a layman, I think it would be easy and quick to solve.
No matter how well the library is maintained and all the tags are stored, the search function and ROON’s handling of the local library is terrible. And I only have local, no streaming service available. It’s often about building bridges or dog ears when you’re looking for something.
I’ve been feeding Twony Server or Minim for years and I’ve been able to find or access everything again. The only reason I switched was multiroom, convenience with the devices and ROON ARC. Except for the convenience and everything in one APP, it’s not really always good for me.
Sometimes less = more.
Sound? I can’t really say that my previous solutions had a worse sound, sometimes I stick with Logitech Squezze or Minim today and think it sounds better or different. But this is a different topic and a rabbit hole.
I would also be very happy if ROON would limit itself to the essentials again and ensure simple basic functions for a library or correct errors in a timely and stable manner instead of making one update after the other. It used to be called customer orientation!
I don’t know if it’s important, I think only “samplers” without album artists are torn up in the TAG’s (compilations = 1). At least I only see torn albums on Sampler.
At least that’s how it is presented to me today.
Dear @moderators or @support,
Since I have not received any further feedback, I would like to politely ask whether I need to open a support ticket with the same content or whether the issue will be taken up or postponed?
The process in the linked post has now been shown for a long time without any results. I can’t say whether it’s actually the same cause.
What do I have to do so that the process is picked up and processed by Roon?
Yes, ROON software discussion. You mentioned the moderator, I mentioned the support.
I didn’t report it to support at first because I thought it was possibly an error on my part or that I could solve the problem with the help of other users and a tip. It doesn’t look like that anymore.
As my English isn’t that great and I always have to work with a translation, it’s not that easy to post.
However, I also assumed that the @ (mod. or support) would give me feedback.
So, please understand. Should I wait until someone responds to the @ and takes up the call for help, or create a new link under help.
Thank you very much, I assumed that the request could be postponed! I have now opened a ticket and linked the original post again with all the information.
