Many of us have problems with the current build 1353. While I believe engineers are heavily busy to work on resolving those bugs, I don’t want to wait longer for a fix or an official statement on timing. Hence, I would appreciate, if Roon could tell us the recommended steps to downgrade back to the stable build 1311.
I think @AMT meant to say “I don’t think there’s a way to downgrade”.
And going back to 1.8 will force you to start your library from scratch as it can’t import current version databases.
For the future, just keep a good database backup track, download the respective new versions to disk and use those downloads to go back if you decide it’s needed for you.
From experience all I can say is that Roon management is not into sharing any plans they might have up their sleeve - unfortunately it seems more like a take-it-or-leave-it stance towards their customers - strong opinions and such …
I‘m all good on what has been said so far. I fully understand, that problem solving might take time. But, why letting concerned user waiting for weeks, whereas provide a rollback plan to the latest stable version could solve it for many of us in the meantime?
Hence, what are my options to rollback?
I‘m also fine, if there is no such option. But then: Roon, please state it and talk to your users.
As I stated above.
I usually keep the last known good version of essential to me software in my downloads for just that reason.
That said, I haven’t got the last version of Roon, since I’m keeping LMS current for fallback reasons.
However, you can do something to prevent automatic updates in future, and take steps to retain earlier versions. For instance, copying the app folder. Since I no longer have a MacBook, it’s possible this won’t work now.
