I believe I have seen a similar behavior previously with another ST user. Although, in their case a similar behavior was noticed after they have a new drive installed in the unit. Before we go ay further, I would like to verify a few things in regard to this observation you have made:

Does the track count underneath the “music” folder accurately reflect the amount of tracks currently in your library?
“I have a classical music library of about 20k tracks on an external hdd…”

My sense is that all the disabled watch folders are sub folders on the mentioned external HDD, is this indeed the case? Furthermore are the mentioned 20K tracks supposed to be spread across these subdirectories on the HDD?
