Retry Fails with Sveriges Radio P2, Stream Times Out [Ticket In]

Hi @BrianW,

I like to listen to Sveriges Radio P2 with my choosen “Default stream” format: FLAC 48kHz 16bit. That worked fine for a long time.

Lately, however, I regularly get a different stream format than my “Default stream”. One time I receive an AAC 48kHz 2ch 320kbps stream (despite of the “Default stream” setting) and another time it is the FLAC 48kHz 16bit stream (the “Default stream”).

Is it possible to do something about this so that I always get the FLAC stream?

Best Regards

You should be able to make the stream you desire the default by clicking “make default” (assuming you see the one you want on the list and it does not get removed from your list of available streams):

@bearFNF, thanks for your reply.

I chose the FLAC format as the default stream a long time ago.

I can well imagine your reaction to my message. I did not translate the Roon terminology correctly from Dutch (I use the Dutch language setting in Roon) to English. Instead of “Default stream” I incorrectly used “Standard stream”. I have adjusted the original message accordingly.

Also @BrianW. The issue still exists. How can it be solved?

Hello @Alfred_van_Hoorn , I check this stream (and many others) every day (though not for the last week or so) - I haven’t noticed anything untoward but will keep an eye on it.

How often does this happen?

Hello @BrianW , thanks for your reply!

The past weeks I got more than half of the time the AAC stream and the other times the FLAC stream. Strangely enough this issue has not occurred the last days. But when I checked P2 again just now I got -after a relatively long wait- the AAC stream again.

I’m now seeing the same problem.

I can’t see why Roon is having problems - I’ve tried variations of the flac streams available and none work - although Roon’s stream tester (available to radio curators) says they should.

Looking at the logs I can see nothing useful.

I’ll bring it the attention of the Devs.

Thanks for your reply and the investigation of the streams. I am glad that I’m not the only one with this issue and that you are seeing the same problem.

Hopefully the Devs can find out what is going on.

FYI. I tested this stream https://live1.sr.se/p2-flac with Lumin native FLAC radio playback, and it works. VLC also seems to work. So I assume the radio source itself is not having a format problem.

Hi everyone, @BrianW

The team has identified a bug related to the station. Instead of retrying the original station URL when it doesn’t respond in time, Roon switches to a separate and erroneous mp3/AAC stream from Sveriges Radio 2.

There is a ticket in the pipeline to address this issue. I will move this thread to the Support subcategory so users can see updates pertaining to the ticket status. We will update once this fix merges into a public build.

Thank you!

HI @Conner,

Thanks for the update! I am happy that the team had identified the problem.

Of course I am looking forward for the fix (hopefully also in the Early Access builds).

Best regards!

Hi @Alfred_van_Hoorn,

We’ll make sure to loop you in when the fix is released so you can test it out!

I would be very happy with that. Thanks for your reply and the service

Hi @Alfred_van_Hoorn,

You’re very welcome, and thank you for your patience!

Hi @Alfred_van_Hoorn,

Just another update here. The fix is progressing through the pipeline. While the most recent #earlyaccess release does not contain the fix, we should have a more fruitful update to share shortly.

Once the fix eventually releases to Early Access, you’ll need to migrate your server and client Roon instances to the EA branch. We’ve outlined this process here: https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/roon-early-access-program

We’ll give you a ping here when the time comes to migrate. Thank you again for your patience in the meantime.

Hi @connor,

Thank you for the update!!

I am already on the EA branch (for a very long time). So I have only to wait for the fix in EA, right?

Hello @Alfred_van_Hoorn,

As soon as the fix becomes available in the EA branch, we will notify you here. Thank you for your patience, and we appreciate your interest in the Roon product!
