Thanks Mike!

Hey @Alicenir, good to have another Hebrew speaker on board
I’m sure once you play around with Roon, and especially if you have a Tidal account, you won’t be disappointed!
I’m also waiting for the next build with the patch. If it comes out after your trial has ended and you haven’t bought a subscription by then, I can report to you on how well it works

Hi @mike and @danny,

I upgraded to windows 10 (a fresh install) and now I can’t see Hebrew characters at all in Roon:

I’m sure it’s some global setting in Windows but I can’t find it. The “Language for non-Unicode programs” setting is set to Hebrew and I also installed the Hebrew language pack which made no difference.

Did you have the same issue when you did the checks in this thread?

Thanks
Lior

besides our built in fonts, we also use some system fonts for other scripts.

Do you have a font for Hebrew that you find to be nice to be combined with the Open Sans that we ship? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Sans

I’ll make sure we put it in the list… just tell me where it is installed on a default windows 10 install.

Comparing with the screenshots above, I’m pretty sure that in Windows 7 the Hebrew font was Tahoma.
In windows 10 the fonts are located under :\Windows\Fonts. And from what I Googled just now, it’s just the same as in Windows 7.
So maybe the font is not the issue here?

i bet you had office or something else installed on the first machine, which installed a back off font we use (arial unicode).

ive added some new fonts for v1.1 that will allow stock windows10 to work fine in hebrew and other scripts too.

You are correct!
I installed Office now and the Hebrew characters are back

Thanks @danny!

Hi again @danny,
I haven’t complained about this in almost 2.5 years so I feel I’ve earned a little more complaining rights by now :innocent:

Any chance you can include the various punctuation marks in the characters that should be reversed along with the Hebrew texts? I’m talking about characters such as ',.?!-+%" etc.
The most common error is with the ’ character, since it can be added to a few Hebrew characters to change their pronunciation. Currently this will break a text and will reverse its broken parts separately.
Example: קונצ’רטו (concerto) will appear as רטו’קונצ
Similarly, abbreviations will also suffer: ק.ג.ב (K.G.B) will appear as ב.ג.ק (thus not reversed at all)

Would really appreciate this extra fix!
Thanks in advance

Numbers can also be included (Think ‘Mambo Number 5’)

Good? I hope I didn’t break anything else. If so, it’ll be in the next release.

if you have some example things to look up in TIDAL, that would be helpful.

@danny - you da man!
Your example looks good (new appears the same as what I wrote).

Tidal examples:
The K.G.B. example - https://tidal.com/track/75431629
Contains ’ - https://tidal.com/track/82863546
Contains " - https://tidal.com/track/35179059
Contains / and also has ’ at the end of the string - https://tidal.com/album/77062704 - Note that Tidal displays the ’ at the wrong side. It should be at the end of the Hebrew string, so on the left and not on the right. This album also has 2 good examples in tracks 5 and 9 with parentheses, with Tidal again displaying the closing parentheses at the wrong side.

Really appreciate this!

quotes and parens are a tough one, even chrome is screwing them up

the problem is that the quotes themselves do not trigger "l-to-r’ mode, so the first one is not captured.

the rest i got in. let me think about quotes.

Thanks again Danny! Worst case, I can live with misplaced quotes

Cool. I’m very impressed you were willing to do this so quickly. Thanks from me too.

Hi @danny,
Just to make sure - was this fix not included in yesterday’s build 306? I’m still seeing the old behavior.
