Thanks for reaching out. Based on your description, it looks like Windows is blocking access to the Nucleus/ROCK internal storage due to its security settings regarding “Guest” access.
This is a common behavior in recent Windows updates (10/11), where the system automatically blocks network shares that don’t require a password. Since Nucleus is designed to be accessible without a password for convenience, Windows essentially puts up a barrier.
We have a step-by-step guide on how to adjust this setting in Windows so you can copy your music files:
Please give those steps a try and let me know if you are able to connect afterwards!
The latest diagnostics to reach our servers indicate that your RoonServer might now have several network shares added. We’re hesitant to close this thread or mark it resolved, however, until we’ve confirmed from you that you’re no longer encountering problems.
Windows 11 commonly disables guest fallback for third-party NAS network shares by default. You’ll need to change the Workgroup permissions per the steps in the article @vadim shared above.
This thread will eventually auto-close without any response, so please give us a ping here if you require further assistance.
This thread is now auto-closing due to inactivity. I’m assuming this issue was resolved behind the scenes, but if you do require additional support, you can reactivate the conversation by submitting a new support request here.
We’ll mark the suggestion above from @vadim as the Solution for posterity. Keep in mind that the team has work in the pipeline to overhaul SMB in Roon/RoonOS long-term, so this workaround shouldn’t be necessary forever.
