ROCK installation failure on ASUS NUC14pro with no continuation after USB to SSD write (ref#132GNX)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

None of the above quite fits

Tell us what's going on

· I fail to install ROCK on an ASUS NUC14pro. Tried every BIOS setting, It just wont do anything but write from USB to M.2 SSD. Never continue after that. I got this NUC specifically and only for ROCK since ARC does not work on Windows anymore.

@Bo_Eriksson, the ASUS NUC 14 Pro isn’t officially supported by Roon, so l have moved your post to Tinkering where the community may assist.

Searching the Internet suggests that it is difficult, but possible to install Roon OS on this model.

The following thread may be helpful.

So I realized that nuc14pro is way to new for ROCK, but I have it, so I put [Proxmox] on the NUC and then made a container with suitable hardware support onto which I installed the latest Roon server for Linux. The result is a very lightweight roon server completely headless and reboot on powerloss safe. It was not super easy, it took several days of tinkering. But I think this was an excellent solution.

I’m pleased to hear you’re up and running. I assume you mean Proxmox? Anyway that’s one way to go, and I certainly recommend using a container.

My prefered route for a NUC is a minimal installation of Ubuntu Server with SSH, Podman and Cockpit. Up and running in around twenty minutes.

Yes I meant Proxmox. I have no Idea why it came out that way in my comment. I won’t edit it post. I need to learn to live with my brain disability when it comes to visual letter separation. I am relearning.

I sometimes forget to re-read what I wrote before hitting send/reply even though I know my problem,

Anyway, I am actually amazed about the servers snappiness and respons after install, especially in the ARC department.

I’ve amended your post. Yes, running on Linux is very efficient, and containers are perfect for Roon. I’m very happy that these are now officially supported.

If you want to tinker, you may want to take a look at Glances/Grafana.
