In the process of upgrading my ROCK Server to Roon 2.0, I intended to start from scratch, installing the latest BIOS and wiping the disk. I could install the software and connect to the Nuc:
Exit Code 6 is related to an issue with formatting internal storage, this can usually indicate a problem with the internal storage device or with the connection to it (cable for example). But I also noticed that RoonServer isn’t running correctly due to missing codecs. Can you try to install the Codecs and see if that helps, if it doesn’t, then I suggest checking the cable on both the drive and motherboard side.
@support: Yes, I have tried to format the disk a number of times, also with the ffmpeg-Codec in place, but to no avail. Yet the disk is fairly new and has hardly been used. Thus I decided to disassemble the nuc and insert the drive in another computer: it took only a few seconds to format the disk without any problem. Put the disk back into the nuc, now the “format” executed successfully. Thus it appears that the issue is with the roon Rock-software, which is not very capable of erasing and formatting disks.
The drive previously was only used in the Intel Nuc as internal storage for Roon 1. The filesystem somehow got corrupted in the process of upgrading to Roon 2.0. At this point, the ROCK software was not capable of formating the hard drive - but a Mac could format the drive with no problem.
