ROCK still leaking

It seems Rock still has memory leak issues. Anyone else still having problems?

Roon Labs did say that version 2.65 was step 1 but they are working on additional improvements, including memory usage

To be clear, it is Roon Server not Roon OS that may have a leak. However, you wouldn’t known if you are running ROCK.

Perhaps you should describe what you are experiencing.

Could you define ´leak´ please, is RAM consumption going incrementally through the roof, or did you notice a slowdown over time?

Not using ROCK, but run the new package in a docker. Noticed it is consuming very little RAM on startup, less than 40% of the previous version. With RAM usage almost doubling over the first hours of use, particularly when editing or adding albums. Afterwards it is stabilizing, no memory leak so far, still below roon 2.64.

Roon on iPhone is very slow to reconnect to the core. Playback responsiveness also degrades noticeably the longer music is playing. A full reboot of the system temporarily restores performance albeit still a bit slow.

System Specs:

• Intel 8th Generation Core i7-8650U (Quad-Core)

• 16 GB RAM

• 128 GB SSD

• Intel NUC7i7DNHE (BLKNUC7I7DNHE)

Library size? On the face of it that machine should have no issues, having the guts of a Rev B Nucleus+. The only thing that might impact that is a particularly large library?

Library relatively small. About 13,000 tracks.

Sounds like Support should look after that. Have experienced similar cases, and the root cause for such problem can be surprising, from defect RAM to corrupted database. So no speculation from my side here.

I agree with @Arindal, open a technical support request. A memory leak is unlikely to be the culprit since you aren’t running out of memory.

To equip the Roon Technical Support team to assist you directly, please follow this link to provide the details of your case to Technical Support: Technical Support Request

Respond to the prompts there to ensure that you’ve performed basic troubleshooting and to ensure Technical Support has the full details necessary to expedite Technical Support’s investigation into the case.

Your responses will create a ticket in Roon Lab’s support tracking system and auto-generate a Community thread in the appropriate section.

Because this Community thread will be in a public forum, please do not include any personal information, such as your email address, postal address or telephone number in your submission.
