Hey @martin.xeis16,

Thanks for writing in! Sorry to hear about your issues updating.

This was a separate issue that originated on our end - luckily this isn’t the same case this time around!

A few initial troubleshooting steps to check (which we run through via the Typeform - in the future, please select the option that best matches your specific issue type instead of simply selecting “other”, as this form was created to help diagnose issues while gathering information and it will allow the support team to be able to best assist with your specific issue type):

  1. Safely stop Roon Server and reboot your ROCK
  2. Set up a simplified network connection from your ROCK to your primary router and try updating again

From a fresh diagnostic report from your ROCK, we see the following error:

Error: [Broker:Misc] [appupdater] While downloading update: System.Net.WebException: Name or service not known (download.roonlabs.net:80)
---> System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: Name or service not known (download.roonlabs.net:80)

Can you confirm all your devices are also running on the same local subnet within your network? That’d be a good thing to check as well. We’ll be on standby for your reply and results! :+1:

Hi benjamin,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Did stop roon server, reboot and directly connect it to the router, still the same issue unfortunatel, does not update…

Got it, thanks for giving that a try @martin.xeis16!

As a next step, save a fresh backup of your current database, and then follow the below steps:

  • Stop RoonServer from running in ROCK’s WebUI
  • Navigate to your ROCK’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Roon database folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database

Let me know if you’re able to update after the above! :raised_hands:

Hi benjamin, nope. Unfortunately still same error, though i did all the steps above…

Got it - thanks for giving that a try!

As a next step, let’s test using a different DNS server on your ROCK. Here’s a step-by-step on how to change the DNS settings on your ROCK:

Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network as your ROCK.

  1. Enter the IP address of your ROCK in the address bar.
  • If you don’t know the IP address:
    • Open the Roon app.
    • Go to Settings > Setup > Find RoonOS.
    • Note the IP address shown for the ROCK.
  • Alternatively, use http://rock.local/ (on macOS or Windows with Bonjour installed).
  • Log into the Web Interface:
  1. Once the web page loads, you’ll see the ROCK web administration interface.
  • Change the DNS Settings:
  • Scroll down to the Networking section.
  • If the ROCK is using DHCP:
    • Note that you cannot directly edit DNS settings under DHCP. You will need to switch to a static IP to specify custom DNS servers.
  1. Switch to a Static IP:
  • Click on the Configure or Edit option under networking.
  • Enter the current network settings for your ROCK (IP address, subnet mask, gateway) manually. These can often be found in your router’s settings or your current DHCP lease information.
  • Specify Custom DNS Servers:
    • Add DNS servers in the relevant fields. Common choices:
      • Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
      • Cloudflare DNS: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
      • OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
  • Save and Apply Changes:
  • Click Save or Apply to confirm your new settings.

Restart the ROCK (make sure Roon Server is stopped) and let me know if you’re able to successfully update! Thank you.
