rooAIDJ - Chat-based AI for Roon

So if I forgot to revoke it, tried entering the license key into the new Pi zero 2W now I’m out of luck? I just tried putting the old PI microSD card in and the extention won’t recognize the original license key either. :frowning:

It tried to force the update but no luck. The flashing red light did not change to a continuous red light and no update took place.

EDIT 2200 hrs: Thanks to Henry_Svendblad it is now working

Double post as i may have posted in the wrong thread before:
Hi All, I’ve just purchased a license for RooAIDJ for use with my Pi3B+ - In roon the roon control works and i can stream from my iphone via the Pi - However, I seem to be in a redirect loop for setting up the rooAIDJ app when following the instructions to try and enter the license as it reports via the app that rooExtend is disconnected.

EDIT: I have entered my server location 192.168.1.*** in the RooAIDJ settings but still no joy

Any help appreciated from the community - Thanks

  • Did you run rooExtend v3.2.0?
  • Did yoiu enter your license Code in the Licensemanager for rooAIDI?
  • Did rooAIDJ show up in the Roon Settings/Extensions dialog?

If all answers were YES then please watch my post at the beginning of the thread for the fist usage of the app rooAIDJ - Chat-based AI for Roon - #2 by miklats

Thank you for the quick reply - All is working now. It was the RooAIDJ extension not showing up originally in the License editor - Thank you for such a great addition to Roon.
Using Focus is okay but I do like the simplicity of asking AI to create a playlist - well several really!!

I did a prompt today where I think it hallucinated results or something, the songs that ended up playing were totally different. I added onto my prompt “with real artists and real songs” and that seemed to work better!

Hello,

I just got the RooExtend, it was recognized from my iPad, please see below

I downloaded the rooAIDJ app in my iPad, however, appear a messages saying the rooExtend is not connected, when rooExtend is already connected.

I tried to go into the app and I put in server address the IP address of the rooExtend that I can see through roon/extension but nothing happen.

My question, how the roon extend can recognize to the rooAIDJ app?

Thanks for your help.

Javier V.

Please see my second post in this thread

I just received an email from Qobuz with updated Terms and Conditions. In addition to a number of changes to their available subscription plans is this ominous statement:

“It is forbidden to use artificial intelligence tools when using Qobuz services.”

Sounds like this kills using rooAIDJ with Qobuz. Am I mistaken?

I think this should not be an issue for rooAIDJ.
rooAIDJ did not use Qobuz. It uses Roon!

I also received this email from Qobuz in German:

„Verhinderung von Fälschungen durch künstliche Intelligenz: Es ist verboten, bei der Nutzung der Qobuz-Dienste Tools der künstlichen Intelligenz zu verwenden.“

I think this paragraph relates to songs published on the Qobuz platform.

LOL, nice! I’m not convinced, but then again I am not the one you’ll need to convince if Qobuz or Roon come calling. This same concern has been raised in another thread regarding Roon’s Valence. I suspect that Qobuz, who are touting their own AI-powered recommendation system, don’t want competition from third parties. It will be interesting to see how aggressively Qobuz pushes this agenda. And they won’t be the only streaming service to go down this road, I’m sure.

As rooAIDJ didn’t use ANY API from Quobuz rooAIDJ is out of the game. Requests to Quobuz come from Roon so if they want to blame someone they will address Roon.
As you probably know the Roon search used by rooAIDJ is hosted on a Roon server and no more on your local Roon core.
So there is also no connection between your gear and Quobuz searching tracks. The only connection to your Roon Core is the audio stream for playback.
This should be quite a comfortable situation for all Roon and rooAIDJ users. So let‘t wait for the reaction of Roon.

Have you made any updates or changes to rooAIDJ? I played with it for a while and may try again. I am not sure how much it helps me with music discovery and making playlists.

Not surprising, Soundiz has an AI service. Everyone has an AI service, but there is a struggle on how to work it into everyday life. Spotify (which I subscribe to for family and Shazaming, but don’t use) has two features:

  • DJ - which plays a Dj voice and picks songs. I like that there is no interface, its just there working
  • Playlist Enhance - optionally adds songs to your playlist to try out based on the songs in the playlist. I am not clear if it looks at the “whole” playlist or just picks some individual songs and adds “songs like this song”

I have not experimented with either.

The holy grail for me is that I have decades of personal listening data that sits idle. Some of it in Last.fm, some of it in Roon, some in tidal, some in Spotify. Arguable Spotify does the best with that data, but I don’t use Spotify much (I don’t want them to “win” and crush the industry even more).

It doesn’t seem like roonAIDJ can access my listen history, so hopefully @Danny builds some cool AI tech into Roon.

Hi @RobOK,

No changes as there were only few request to change anything.

But we have been the first with our presentation at the Munich HighEnd this year :+1:

This is done by Roon Radio. Therefore rooAIDJ is a very good enhancement to Roon Radio. Get a playlist with rooAIDJ and Roon Radio will continue in the same style if the playlist was done.

No rooAIDJ is just a cusromized CharGPT fronetend. Ask for songy and you get them and can play with one Click.

Hi,

I bought a license 4 months ago at sellcodes.
I did not use the app for the last 1.5 months.
The rasp 4 - boots with no license.
Trying to load the license again into the system, results with:
“The license key for the given product is expired”.
Still the monthly payout is committed via PayPal.
Why does this happen?
How can I stop paying for this expired license - I don’t see a trace of the purchase in sell codes.com.
Nothing to stop payment on PayPal.com

Please advise.

Lior
