Are your volume knobs still available? I control Roon with an iPad Pro…But one of the things I miss is a quality Volume Knob. Even the volume knob on my Marantz Pre Pro AV8805 is digital and feels like crap…not even close to a high quality analog Potentiometer like the good 'ol days.
I would love to get one of your Volume controls called The Dial to bring back that ol fashioned feeling of Quality Knob that a person always used to judge the quality of the rest of the component!
Larry,
the white Nuimos are still available, aprx. 100 units. And it is worth the investment
Turning the wheel is like handling a focus control of a Leica camera.
Order one of the Nuimos and I guarantee your requirements will be fulfilled!
Was this reply for me? I send NOTHING over wireless ethernet. All my gear is hard wired and I will not change this fact just for a fancy volume knob. If it cannot interface without those cheap parts then I guess I am out of luck.
Hi Larry I have a Nuimo connecting to a Pi over Bluetooth, and the Pi is connected over Ethernet.
I enjoy it enough that I have bought a second. It’s a good remote and the software that the Doctor has developed it very nice to configure and forget.
A Raspberry Pi is required and your device needs to have volume control via Roon enabled to get the best out of it, be it actual volume control or digital volume set at the device.
Thanks for the info Michael…If you are using Bluetooth to the Pi why can’t I do the same with Bluetooth to my MAC Mini? That’s exactly how I control it now with an iPad?
Larry the software only runs on a Pi is the reason and is not available for Mac or Windows.
It is part of the Doctors RooExtend solution, that is putting extensions onto a standalone Pi and making them easier to run for non technical users.
That’s what I figured…Dang I wish someone could write a program for the MAC Mini, they would sell a boat load of Volume Knobs! Since Volume knobs have gone digital, I really miss that quality feel of a good Pot!
You would think it’s not far off from how a iPhone or iPad controls a MAC.
I have both in my setup and really like DietPi, but too many users will not go down that route as they find it too complicated.
Too many will not even write out a memory stick, so nothing for them.
Larry not a problem. I find it great, but I am a tinkerer.
I like the fact that it sits on a Pi as it doesn’t interfere with anything else running, but understand why you might want it on your Mac mini.
I will integrate the extension manager soon In rooExtend. So flashing a SD-Card with Balena Etcher would be what users have to be able to in getting it all. This will hopefully offer the whole world of Roon Extensions also to less educated music lovers.
Is there a demo/trial license for rooDial? I thought I read it would run with limited functionality for testing, but it’s not showing up under my roon extensions. rooExtend is showing.
I can no longer use the Roodial. It registers in Extensions (L,R,P) etc. I have forgotten how to assign it to a Zone, I think. Please can you remind me. Thanks David
Paul, thanks for this. I don’t seem to be able to get to the rooDial Extension settings page…
I just have a Pay Option. I am assuming Pairing has happened as the (R/L .P) all works. I am still on v 1.3.0 though…
