RooExtend has stopped working after upgrade to 3.5.3

Hi everyone,

After updating my rooExtend DIY image on a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B (Rev 1.2) to rooExtend v3.5.3 , the system no longer runs stable and keeps restarting the rooExtend service in a loop.

Setup

  • Device: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2
  • Connection: Ethernet (internet connected = Yes)
  • rooExtend release: 3.5.3
  • Roon Core is reachable; rooExtend shows “got paired with CORE” in the log
  • Extended settings page is accessible at http://192.168.1.126
  • System Info shows: RoonCommandLine: Unpaired

What happens
rooExtend starts, launches the web server, pairs with the CORE, then crashes and systemd restarts it. This repeats continuously.
Here you can find the logs

Any Help would be appreciated!
Thanks

I reinstalled the whole thing and now it’s working.

I just got everything working last night and today when I get home… rooExtend / rooMax are not working or visible. rooExtend is not visible at all: http://rooextend.local or http://10.0.0.5.! In Roon, the Extensions tab in settings does not show any of the extensions that were visible and enabled previously. I did absolutely nothing… I left everything on/running and when I came home no extensions no functioning remote… no rooExtend visible via web browser.

I can see the roo extensions under Authorizations / View in Roon

That’s it… What can I do? This is not a good look and am feeling that this in not a stable as I had hoped it would be… Can someone help me to get my lifetime rooMax extension operational again? I hope this is not a regular occurrence as no one wants to spend their time troubleshooting remote controls!!! Thanks..

Should I start from scratch… and re-flash the rooExtend image via Balenaetcher? Then go through the entire process again? Entering my lifetime rooMax license in Roon… I’m wondering what happens to the info that Roon already has based on this current installation? Should or MUST I remove the existing extension authorizations? This is so very frustrating that I cannot even use the apps and remote that I worked so diligently in to get right… No joy no enjoyment no audio bliss… Thanks to ANYONE who can shed some light on this… I fear I may have to ask DrCWO for a refund if this continues… Sad really…
