rooExtend newbie + RME + RooDial

Hello Folks, I have a few question regarding RooExtned

1. Do I have to buy the RooExtend device or can I install it on rPi? If so where can I find the step by step procedure?

2. I recently learnt about RooADI which provides bi-directional volume control with RME ADI DAC. Can I have this bidirectional control even if RME is not connected to computer through USB (my setup: Roon (Mac) → Bluesound Node (LAN) → RME DAC (optical))

3. Can use IKEA Symfonisk volume knob to control Roodial or it has to be Microsoft Surface dial? In this case, when I turn the know (assuming that I had RooADI) will
   I be able to change the volume of RME ADI and see the volume level on RME?

No, your ADI has to be connected via USB to the rPi running RooExtend and the RooADI-extension.
