Can you explain why Roon 1.8 sounds better than 2.0? And if so, how long do you recommend I stick with Roon 1.8? A new update came out recently (MUSE), as a serious audio enthusiast, is this what I should use? I mean, the danger of way too much bloatware is lurking. I have a Pachanko Mini SE and Oliospec Canario DUB (Diretta USB Bridge).
Sounds better in what ways?
You have compared with a blind test, with same DSP configuration and same bridge ?
And 1.7 sounded better than 1.8 while 1.8 also sounded better than 1.7:
Hint: It’s not that
Muse is just a rebranded Roon DSP engine which hasn’t changed in 2.0, they also released it on ARC. Every version of Roon there are claims it’s changed. Never heard one change to how it sounds apart from one where they did update the DSP engine and as I used DSP it was noticeable improvement but that was before 2 was a thing. Without DSP always sounds the same whatever version.
