Roon 2.0 and Linux (Wine) .. is 32bit needed? [answer: no, wine supports 64bit]

Yes, for a long time. I use the Roon on Wine script with WineHQ main.

What tweak? Do you mind sharing please?

Setting the registry entry so it behaves like wintricks used by roon-on-wine

Thank you for your feedback. Here is what went wrong with my initial attempts: I set my dual monitor with wdisplays and the first screen wasn’t placed at 0,0 (i.e. in the top left corner). In the current xwayland, this prevents the mouse from interacting with any windows.

However, I didn’t need to tweak the registry to get audio out of wine. Can you elaborate?

FYI wine should be compatible with wayland and openGL by the end of the year. See winewayland.drv: part 13.1: Basic OpenGL support (!5177) ¡ Merge requests ¡ wine / wine ¡ GitLab.

IIRC sound just works for some (people/distribution) and not for others. Wine should auto-detect the sound output (ALSA,Pulse, …). For the ones sound doesn’t work, manually instruct Wine what output to use (tweaking) is of no help (backed by others users and my own experience). Exceptions to that rule may exist (DS_DV) but are not common.
Note: I use WIne/Proton a lot for games on the machine where I also have my Roon bottles – no sound issue with any of the games without tweaking sound settings in Wine/Proton. It’s just Roon that doesn’t play.

Can you use Tab to switch between fields when editing?

That was a bug a couple years ago but apparently it’s been resolved…

FWIW this still doesn’t work for all fields in a native installation, either. (Though some improvements were made)

I tend to do all metadata changes in the files, so using just tweaks in Roon. However, I do recall there being an issue–I’ve taken Roon offline at the moment so can’t check.
