Mobile could if done in a certain way perhaps allow you to bridge from your core to other devices other than phone or tablet. In theory you could AirPlay or Chromecast from these to devices if they support them. Who knows what’s in store if it’s a reality at all.
I actually have no need for Roon mobile right now, using Qobuz, Tidal and some local files on the go and in the office works quite well without Roon. Also my Roon core is not running 24/7.
But I am eager to see the new possibilities and can image that there will be some interesting features that might change my way of listening to music when I’m not at home.
I am also pretty sure it’s Roon mobile because one guy of the Roon team told me a few months ago that it’s high on their priority list or that they are working on it, something along these lines.
Roon CarPlay would be splendid ! Mobile Roon also…

Apple Music
Apple Music
Apple Music
Apple Music
…
Actually I’d maybe keep my eyes peeled for something official around the end of the month, around CEDIA Expo time.
+1 for Apple Music
Or maybe a subscription you can share with your friends
Or a full rebuild of the UI with multiple applications for Apple TV, Android TV etc …
This is the long-rumored TikTok + Roon venture. TikTok is making a size-able investment in Roon and the Roon “Home” screen will be replaced with a For You Page of TikTok videos. A new ML model will use your music library to influence what TikTok videos you see and the TikTok videos you watch will influence your music recommendations and explorations. It should be exciting to see all of the TikTok greats finally getting the exposure they deserve in our Roon experiences!
I have two homes and here’s what I do. I have a NUC with Roon core and all my music is on an internal SSD.
I just take it between homes. It’s so small that it’s not an issue.
Not sure if that would work for you, but it does for me.
Lol.

What we look at is the Roon interface, what we see (hear) is Tidal or Qobuz.
Can Roon come up with their own membership to services, like Tidal and Qobuz and more, all combined, and the library becomes finally ours? Like: when Tidal deletes an album and that whole album suddenly doesn’t even exists anymore in the discography, then another service can come up with that album and we can still play it.
If you pay for Tidal and Tidal removes an album then you lose the ability to stream that album. Nothing Roon does will change that.
My wish would be support for Atmos… preferably with Apple Music, but I know that’s highly unlikely so Tidal Atmos would be almost as good.
My guess is that Roon will release a web based client. That would maybe also make Roon mobile easier to realise? I guess we’ll see soon
Not a bad idea an almost full web client (at least, playlist and zone management) to avoir installing a full client on low power device (tablet, smart TV …)
The amount of resources used by a browser depends on the browsed content, so a full client app is not necessarily worse.
A little part of me still hopes they will provide in built audio correction to save the horror of REW but I know thats unlikely.
However what a waste of resource time if its all about accessing your music from home who even cares anymore. No one goes out, and when they do they just turn on tidal or what ever music service they have. A very small percentage of a very small percentage of people have such special music that cannot be found on these services.
And if its video thats just a kick int he teeth to all the users who want amazon or apple music but cannot because of the oh so special way roon integrates apparently.
Well, I am one of this, let’s say 1%, who has a lot of files that cannot be streamed. About a quater of the CD and vinily I own is not available in digital formats, so I ripped all my CD and currently I am digitizing the vinyl…
So my roon playlist contain tracks from Qobuz and traks from my library and till now there’s no way listening these playlists on the go.
The only thing I could do is to convert all the CD/Vinyl flac files into alac and inport them into Apple Music… but then I would need another subscription for Apple Music and rebuild the playlists in there which is a nightmare, both Apple Music and all the work to be done.
May you see now why some people like me would love to have access to their roon out of home.
Cheers
Purchasing used CDs and ripping them to your local library is really a good option if you worry about music getting removed.
Qobuz sublime subscription is another option if you want to purchase digital files. It really offers “fair” prices compared to other sites.
If you purchase something on qobuz or Bandcamp it’s yours. Even if the service removes the files later. Similar to apple with their iTunes movies.
Looking forward for roon 2.0 and praying for roon everywhere that will be awesome !
Big hint:
Roon on board!

Genuinely though, how often will you be out and about and just have to have that playlist? I suppose if you have two houses firstly good for you and secondly perhaps in that case I can understand. If it’s just a commute to work then probably not such a big concern.
I see the only way Roon could do this is by allowing you to download music to your phone and Roon work outside of its server.
This is a hassle just as much as Plex, and if the other solution is cloud based then certainly not worth the development time. Just integrate Apple and Amazon like everyone wants and your issue also goes away.
