Description of Issue

The big dealbraker for me is whether or not I can use or access Roon while out and about or at work.

Does the IOS or Android device running as a remote need to connect to the Roon core on the same network only or can the remote device access the Roon core from afar … say like my hotel room on a trip?

It would be great to be able to take the music away with us, via sync (or via streaming), directly to mobile devices. At present no, you need to have a Roon Core running locally (all devices on the same subnet).

It is possible to set-up a VPN to extend the home LAN so it’s accessible from outside (see #tinkering section of the forum). However, that’s not officially support by Roon.
