Roon account hacked

I got a roon security alert mail “New sign in detected”.
I changed my password right away.

Can I know what the man did with my account? And if I change my password, does it automatically sign out from other devices that are signed in?

Cheers,

Are you sure that this was not because you signed into the Roon Community on a new device or had logged out from your web browser at the end of the previous session? The message should have also given a geographical location of the sign-in - does this correspond to you?

See this thread also:

Of course not. That location is over 100km from my residence. And I did nothing at that time.
This is my second time visiting Roon Community. First was to change my nickname.

Geolocation is often very off for this I find even when at home. I get them often when my browser has logged me out and i have to log back in again and it’s never my home location but is nearish.

Perhaps you missed the last message in that thread I mentioned:

I ran into an article that explains a little more how common this is (article is found here).

IP based geolocation services can only provide an approximate measure of geolocation accuracy. With these services, you can obtain:

  • 95 percent to 99 percent accuracy of a user’s country.
  • 55 percent to 80 percent accuracy for a user’s region or state
  • 50 percent to 75 percent accuracy for a user’s city.

In practice, the actual accuracy may vary from provider to provider and depending on the location of the device. For instance, IP based geolocation services typically work better in big cities and work less well in smaller ones.

Have you visited the Roon Community to read messages recently?

Yeah… Now I tested it at home several times. I’m in Korea but the alert said I’m in Japan. I understand why this happened.

Thanks, Geoff. I fully understand this happened.
Nope, I’m not familiar with Roon Community. But, from now on, I will be because I’m having interest on Roon’s DSP.

OK, thanks for letting us know. I’ll close this Support Request so that the Support Team can move on to other requests.
