Roon acquired by Harman International [Feedback]

Congrats, I think. Brand new user (Just paid for my annual like a week and a half ago). Am curious if things like the NAS support will benefit from this (and hoping they don’t get axed)

If this is the case…I’m psyched.

Tey need something after Milk went away.

Whatever you do, do NOT let Harman or Samsung into
Your software development process: neither company has the slightest clue about the design/development process. Any attempt to rationalise or merge would lead to the demise of Roon.

OK, probably no need to speculate. We’ll find out soon enough.

With sellers remorse it may take two weeks

I also have to wonder…will Roon gain special Harman curve capabilities now?

Well, congrats on a successful exit…I guess. Happy to hear my recent lifetime subscription likely helped validate or increase your valuation…I guess.

I also will make an informed guess that Samsung/Harman will eventually screw this up. Everybody’s happy when they can report a great acquisition to shareholders, founders get paid, etc. Then comes the integration of the business unit into the borg and eventually the pressures to hit earnings, cut opex, hire new blood to “take it to a new level”, etc. etc. Sorry, I’ve seen this movie before and it rarely ends well for customers.

Well… I started using Roon maybe 3 years ago, and I got used to it, liked it and developed my home music ecosystem around roon ready dwvices, like NAD streamer/preamp, Chord Poly and Wiim, just to name few. Even with Roon ARC being a total mistake I am still an enthusiast.
It will be painful to watch Roon being devoured by Samsung and transformed into some sort of samsung-cast. At least we have some time to look for alternative solution, hopefully someone will fill the gap on the market.
It was a nice trip guys, hope you will at least get some money from them. Good luck and all the best, and please keep Roon running as long as possible…

Not sure what you’re reading @H4mm3rh34d

I read this.

Roon will operate as a standalone Harman business with its existing team. All Roon operations will stay in place and continue to be dedicated to serving and growing Roon’s community of device partners and customers, under a joint mission to deliver engaging and personalized audio experiences across a universe of products and platforms.

Exactly, as a many years lifetime subscriber I worry that things will not stay the same for long. Already thinking about alternatives and sigh there aren’t many. Audirvana ???

:exclamation:I hope this is an exciting new chapter for Roon. I’m only slightly nervous, because I just bought the lifetime subscription after much consideration. I absolutely love Roon unequivocally, so I want to keep having the same experience, and I’m excited about any improvements that could be coming. :clinking_glasses:

Too late. Samsung and Harman now own them, they can do as they wish at any point

I would imagine that Roon certification now will go lickety-split with Harman brands! Laggards beware!

Can I add congratulations but specifically to @mike who has, through alpha testing in the past, been my main Roon team contact.

Best of luck, Mike.
