Roon acquired by Harman International [Feedback]

Here is Harman’s announcement.

Well maybe Roon will actually work on Samsung phones. They do seem to have more issues than any other. Current iOS problems an exception.

True

Yeah but there’s a wide span of possibilities. Quite a lot of valuable people got the chance to buy equity when we were acquired to keep them in their jobs. That was a private equity buyer though.

In the end, speculation is fun but there are so many ways to do this and we know nothing

I thought it would have been google….

Now this could be a possible talking point.

Apple may not have seen Roon as a threat to Apple and allowed the use of Airplay.

Would the use of Airplay be stopped in case of a legal battle now Roon is part of a bigger organisation.

Apple/Samsung have history :person_shrugging:

Probably some of this will be going on

As @Thomas_Becker has posted previously.

I thought the AirPlay implementation is an open source project and Apple has no control over that

@Grasshopper

Aptx instead of RAAT?? No, say it ain’t so, Joe (er… Grasshopper).:smile:

Seriously, though: the further that I slowly learn and use this wonderful software, the more I think that RAAT is its greatest contribution.

The long game here must be the quality of the stream.

Can’t see why they would buy it in the first place if that’s the idea

Lots of things might happen, or not …
People mentioned data concerns, it’s not just you but Tidal and Qobuz who might not like their streaming stats shared with Samsung.

Psst… It was a joke

I believe SharePort Sync only receives it does not send and this is Roons own code. I may be wrong though.

Streaming into a Cambridge Audio 851a amp and Sennheiser HD660S headphones.

Q.E.D.

RAAT should be the golden acorn, to put it on the shelf would be very telling of intentions. Should actually be implemented across all of the Harman lineup.
Is it not the most exclusive part of Roon technology?

Ok but you had a theme going there, which I supposed you chose because it illustrated your fundamental expectation.

So get your lifetime subscriptions now as long as you can or better not? This will make for a good anxiety thread

Book a stateroom aboard the Mary Celeste while you’re feeling spunky :joy::wink::joy:

Congratulations, Danny.

It took me a few years but in the end I migrated from Sooloos to Roon and I’ve been very impressed by the product.

I’m good
