For me Apple would of been bad. They are too closed for my liking.

So would Mark Levinson!

I’m so sad. I detest the crappy quality of Samsung consumer products and fear that QA will become an after-thought going forward.

By consumer products, I’m referring to consumer electronics sold as Samsung products and Samsung appliances.

Now that would be a novel concept, typically handed checks and shown to the exit door. I feel mostly for the employees who face uncertainty and instability in their future.

Congratulations to the Roon team!
Roon Remote on Samsung TVs anyone? I personally would love this.

Congratulations @danny and @enno and all the Roonies.

Onwards and upwards! I’m very interested in seeing where all this goes. Exciting times :+1:

Congrats Roonies!

I’m not sure that’s so unusual particularly on the tech side. Their knowledge is much of what you want and getting rid of those who built the code is not a good idea

Congratulations to the Roon team.

My strongest hope is suggested in the announcement, I believe: I hope that (far) more Roon Ready devices get authorized, and that the downward pricing market pressure (e.g., Wiim Pro) grows as well.

Samsung. But you knew that you were selling to a morally bankrupt mega corporation with a CEO imprisoned for bribery, embezzlement and lying to judge and jury under oath and didn’t care.

As they will be under the Harman umbrella I doubt that will be a problem - Harman have top notch brands such as Mark Levinson, Arcam, and JBL all of which produce high quality, very well made gear.

There are many more that wouldn’t have been a good fit. The bigger the companies the more share holders interest there are. And in the current stage of Roon it’s not just about revenue and earning models rather than scaling it into the future in a solid way. That will take quite some budget though there is of course also a great potential for becoming more relevant and gaining market share. Guess Harman is also aware I’d that when they decided about the deal.

Your washing machine and refrigerator may well become roon ready.
Unless anything is agreed in writing prior, Samsung can do what they like after acquisition.
Goodbye v 1.8
Roon ARC why bother.
Lifetime kicked to the kerb.
RAAT replaced by Aptx.

The closer you are to the “ nuts and bolts “ the better, the redundancy in middle management is typically the most likely to face elimination, the people that would have worked to make the company attractive to the takeover usually take the brunt of the situation.

lol….rest in pieces…….please

Just noticed that my two most recent appliance purchases are Samsung. A TV and a refrigerator.

@danny Any word on Roon Legacy 1.8? Will it continue?
