Description of Issue

There two related issues: Roon app modifies the iOS volume while other applications (eg Spotify) are able to drive the amplifier volume without affecting the phone volume.

Sometimes (50% of the time) pressing volume up on the phone results in a decrease in the volume (the volume slider in the app works correctly though)

Hi @Mihai_Mihai,

Roon’s control over an external audio device is dependent on the settings you’ve prescribed in the Device Setup for that Zone. How are you connecting to the Hegel Zone from Roon?

Sharing a screenshot of Device Setup will help. See below for an example:

A volume control mismatch like you’ve described usually occurs when there are competing signals inputting to the endpoint. This can arise from DSP or multiple inputs playing simultaneously. Do you have DSP engaged for this Zone? You mention Spotify - are you using other digital inputs on the Hegel to connect to other apps?

If you’ve already checked the aforementioned variables, another step you can take is to refresh RAATServer. Bear in mind this will delete and custom DSP settings for your Zones, so make sure you have a recent backup available first:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

We’ll keep an eye out for your response.
