Roon app fails to load and shows 'Waiting for your Roon Server' after update (ref#56EXH4)

What’s happening?

· I'm having trouble connecting to Roon

What type of connection issue?

Describe the issue

At first, Roon did not recognize my Cambridge streamer, even though streamer recognized the network and was ready. Now, the Roon app itself will not load and says "Waiting for your Roon Server."

I have checked for updated software; rebooted my Mac; re-downloaded the Roon app; checked the firewall for Roon exceptions; and turned off the firewall altogether.

This all seemed to happen after the latest Roon software update.

Describe your network setup

Mac OS running Sequoia 15.0.1.
Centurylink DSL CT2100 modem.

Hey @jampat111,

Thanks for taking the time to write in, and welcome to the community!

A simple next step in troubleshooting - what happens if you click ‘select different Roon Server’? Do you see the Cambridge device, and are you able to re-connect?

We’ll be on standby for your reply. :+1:

I see this warning:
“If you select a different Roon server you won’t be able to access the music you had before. Is that what you want?” Yes/No
That doesn’t sound good to me.

Yes it’s safe and what @benjamin is wishing for you to try

Ok, thx AceRunner. I do not see the Cambridge streamer. I see a choice of “find my Roon server” or “set up a Roon serve on this Mac”

But now I’m confused here.
The Roon Server has to be a PC of some type, the Cambridge streamer is not capable of being a Server.
How was your system working previously?
What was/ is running as Roon Server?

I run Roon as an application on my Mac. It has always connected to the Cambridge streamer via wifi with no issues. My library on the Mac and Tidal have worked well. But last week the streamer would connect the with the network and Roon would load but not find the Cambridge streamer. Today, Roon won’t load without the “Waiting for your Roon server” message.

But your previous message of " find my Roon Server or set up a Server on this Mac doesn’t seem to imply that your Mac was the Roon Server previously?
The Cambridge streamer is irrelevant right now until we sort out what is actually being used as the Roon Server and what has happened there.

Thanks to all. My issue is resolved. I clicked on “set up Roon server on this Mac.” I apologize, I did not know the term “server” was used to reference the location of the Roon software. Anyway, Roon shows my Tidal and personal libraries and recognizes the Cambridge device. Back in business. Thx again.
