Roon app freezing and glitching on Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 (ref#93C9WD)

· The roon app on my samsung galaxy Fold 6 behaves odd since I got the phone. Never had issues with the app on a normal phone, yar since the upgrade it constantly has bugs and glitches. I at the beginning though it is because I am using it on the main screen (unfolded ) and it is known that normal apps have trouble with the main screen of a fold device. However now I experience issues when the phone is closed as well (normal screen mode). Issues are: app freezes after making a search and clicking an album, need to restart the app after a few clicks in the app, and now even I got a black screen when trying to get back to the home tab. Except the app freezing, there seems to be a new random issue in the app every time.

· Using a vpn, roon bridge on a raspberry pi, and roon rock on a nuc. I have not changed anything in this setup except the phone on which the app works. On pc by the way, no issues

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report, I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with your Fold 6.

First, can you please try heading into Settings > Apps > Roon > Battery and setting it to “Unrestricted” — not “Optimized.”

It may be helpful to also review:

  • Go to Settings > Device Care > Battery > Background Usage Limits and make sure Roon is not listed under sleeping or deep sleeping apps.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Roon > Mobile Data & Wi-Fi and enable both "Allow background data usage" and "Allow data usage while Data saver is on."

Try temporarily disabling it and using Roon on your local Wi-Fi only to see if the freezes persist. VPNs can interfere with Roon’s local discovery and reconnection logic, which could explain why the app needs a restart after a few clicks.

With that, Samsung confirmed a software issue affecting the Galaxy Z Fold 6 after the One UI 8 update, where apps do not continue smoothly when the phone is folded or unfolded. Check that your One UI is fully up to date — Samsung has been patching this. Also update the One UI Home app from the Galaxy Store specifically, as that’s been noted as a stabilizing fix.

If the issues persist, please share a more specific date, and time, and we’ll attempt to enable diagnostic mode for your Fold 6 and Roon Server. Thank you! :+1:
