Thank you for contacting Cambridge Audio.

Your Cambridge Audio Network Player is fully compatible with Roon, and it will function as an endpoint in a Roon system. This means that you will need both a Roon Core and a Roon subscription for the system to function. None of our streamers will function as a Roon Core.

To add your Cambridge Audio streamer to a Roon system.

· Ensure it is connected to the same network and switched on.

· Go into Settings/Audio in Roon.

· The Cambridge Audio streamer should be seen as a Roon compatible device

· Press Enable.

The Cambridge Audio streamer can now be selected from the list of devices in your Roon system

· Subject: Setup issues with Cambridge MXN10 and information about using it as a server
Good morning,
I'm very interested in your Roon service. Yesterday I created an account to take advantage of the 15-day free trial, with the intention of subscribing later.
I installed the Roon app on my iPad, iPhone, and Mac. I use Tidal as a streaming service, and a Cambridge MXN10 as a network streamer.
I'm currently experiencing some issues:
Roon isn't detecting the Cambridge MXN10.
The device is properly connected to the same local network as my Mac, iPhone, and iPad, but it's not found during setup.
The Roon app gets stuck searching for the server (Roon Server/Core).
Every time I open the app, it asks me to connect to a Roon server, and I can't continue. I've also tried searching by manually entering the IP address, but to no avail.
I also have a question.
Is it possible to use the Cambridge MXN10 with Roon by connecting an external hard drive to the device, storing my music library, and then accessing streaming files even when I'm away from home?
If so, I would first like to resolve the configuration issues described above.
I have already contacted Cambridge Audio support and they responded as follows:

I'll paste their response here.
Thank you in advance for your support and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi @a.vescovi67,

Thanks for writing in and for giving Roon a try! We can most definitely get you up and running smoothly.

First, worth noting - the MXN10 is only an endpoint. As Cambridge confirmed, it cannot act as a Roon Server, and it cannot store/stream a library via attached USB drive in Roon. You’ll need a separate, always-on machine running Roon Server, you can use your Mac for now though.

Can you confirm Roon Server is running on the Mac? You should see the Roon jellyfish on your macOS taskbar. If not, we’ll need to try to get Roon Server to open and launch manually.

  1. Head to your Applications folder > right-click Roon ‘Show Package Contents’
  2. Head into the ‘Contents’ folder and you’ll see the Roon Server application. Double click it to manually launch it.
Let me know if this helps get you connected properly. From there, you can access your Roon Settings > Audio and you should see your MXN10 available.

Thank you!
