When I choose the Roon app on my iPad that controls the Nucleus, it often takes 5-10 minutes before it recognizes the server. This didn't use to happen,
Describe your network setup
I have Verizon wifi/router, which is hard-wired by ethernet cable to my Roon Nucleus. Using an Apple iPad with the Roon app to play music through the Nucleus.
Thanks for the detailed description - this sounds like a network discovery / Bonjour related issue rather than a problem with the Nucleus itself.
In addition to the reboot sequence already suggested, please try the following:
Make sure there is only one active Roon Core on your network
- If Roon is installed on your Mac, please quit the app completely or uninstall it temporarily, as multiple Cores can delay discovery.
Disable any VPN, network security, or content filtering features on the router (including Verizon parental controls).
If possible, test: • iPad connected to another Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz)
• Temporarily connect the iPad closer to the router
Confirm that mDNS/Bonjour traffic is not being blocked on the router: - Multicast / UPnP / IGMP features should be enabled
Let us know the results - this will help us narrow down whether the delay is caused by router behavior or network discovery timing.
Thanks Alex. The initial rebooting suggestion seemed to work well. As to your additional suggestions, there is now only 1 active Roon Core (I deleted the one from my Mac Studio which I never use anyway); there’s no other Wi-Fi network here to do the test in paragraph 3. As to paragraphs 2 and 4, the network settings accessed on my Mac indicate only 1 filter, called NetBarrier Ex… There is no reference to mDNS/Bonjour or the other items mentioned in your message, though I don’t know if I should be looking somewhere else about that. It’s somewhat above my pay grade. Thanks again.
