Describe the issue

I have a Nucleus One that I operate Roon off of. It is connected via ethernet to a node on my mesh wifi. When I open the Roon app (not the Roon Arc app) on my phone and am connected to the same wifi I am able to connect to Roon with no issues.

When I open Roon on my MacBook Pro several things happen. The Roon app opens and starts looking for the server. Then my wifi begins to cycle on and off, seemingly connecting, disconnecting and then trying to reconnect to the wifi. This either cycles 2-3 times and then successfully connects, or cycles without end. If connection isn't successful it disrupts my Mac's wifi connection permanently until I cycle in and out of airplane mode.

I attempted to go through some of the trouble shooting suggestions but wasn't able to complete the steps on most of them (I am fairly computer savvy, and don't typically get stumped on exploring the system and troubleshooting things like firewalls, database resets, reinstalling an app, etc.).

Please advise on next steps. Thanks

Describe your network setup

ATT fiber optic with their BGW320-505 router/modem. My mesh system is the Linksys - Velop Pro 6E AXE5400 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E System. I have three nodes, one of which the Nucleus One is connected to via ethernet cable.

Hello @joshmoes,

Thank you for reaching out to Roon Support!

We’d like to ask you to perform a quick test to help rule out any potential issues with the WiFi connection. Could you please connect your MacBook directly via Ethernet to the same mesh node where your Nucleus One is connected?

This will help us determine if the issue is related to the wireless connection.

Looking forward to your update!

Hi @vadim, my MacBook doesn’t have an Ethernet port, and I do not have an adapter available. If this is a required next step, I’ll have to order an adapter. Let me know if we need to try this first or if there is another route we can take. Thanks!

Hi @joshmoes ,

Can you please try to temporarily set up the MacBook as the Roon Server? You are free to switch between Roon Servers as often as you’d like, but you can only have one active at a time. If Roon is automatically connecting to the Nucleus, then you can go to Roon Settings → General → Disconnect to bring up the selection screen and press the Use this PC option.

When I open Roon it falls into the “searching for server mode” and it won’t let me navigate to the settings tab to make this adjustment. Should I select “choose different server” from the screen I’m stuck on?

Hi @joshmoes ,

Yes, please go ahead and choose this option, and let us know if you see the Roon Server after, thanks!
