For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.
· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.
Describe the issue
New to Roon, finding it VERY glitchy and unreliable on my laptop. I click on my desktop shortcut and the Roon page opens but then closes after 30 seconds. Sometimes the page just closes whilst playing for no apparent reason . It also is saying cannot connect to Qobuz . To be honest I love the info I get from Roon but I’m not a computer type of guy and this is really taking the shine off playing music . I don’t use my laptop for anything else other than internet browsing so I’d expect Roon to work flawlessly . Running on Windows 10 . I’m running out of patience tbh . It really shouldn’t be this difficult surely?
Thank you for your post. We’ve identified the crash in diagnostics that automatically report to our servers - this class of managed crash is most often related to wake-from-sleep and power saver settings interactions with Roon’s GUI.
We’ll escalate to development in case this requires a fix. In the meantime, I recommend updating to the most recent build (1525) across your Roon devices, as there’s been recent work in this area.
As a workaround in the meantime, try turning off hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in your Graphics Settings and see if that makes a difference. I’d also try changing power saver settings - based on the relevant traces we’ve found, the crux of the issue here is how the GUI interacts with the OS during hibernation and waking.
Concerning Qobuz authentication, do you have any problems from the same laptop if you sign into Qobuz via a web browser or the Qobuz native app? I recommend safelisting RoonServer in the Windows Defender firewall, too.
We’ve created a ticket with development to resolve the specific crash you’ve been encountering. We don’t have a specific timeline estimated until release at this time, but we’ll keep you appraised and give you a ping here when the ticket has merged into a public Roon build.
For context, we first release fixes into an Early Access build, where users can test the fix broadly. From there, a public update of Roon will contain the fix. We’ll let you know when both of these steps occur.
