Roon ARC connectivity and library rescan issues on Unraid server (ref#LTNT3Y)

Describe the issue

I just started with Roon for the black friday deal as i am looking for a solution to stream my music library which consists of purchased singles for the purpose of djing and Roon ARC seems like the right product for the job. I have a supermicro server with dual xeon processors and 64gigs of ram using Unraid as the OS on the server and set up Roon in a docker container(using the repo mackid1993/docker-roonserver). The music is all stored on the array of disks on the same server so the docker has the music folder in Roon mapped to the location on the server where all my "DJ Music" is located. My network setup at home is a Unifi network with a UDM-SE gateway with a 10gig connection to a switch then a 10gig connection to the Unraid Server. I have a XB8 modem in bridge mode with a 2.5 gig internet connection. I have port forwarding set up on port 55000 both udp and tcp set to the dedicated ip address of the Roon Docker container. I am having 2 issues. The first issue is Roon Arc stability. I have issues connecting sometimes (Poor connection message) or issues where i can be playing music just fine and then on a particular song, it says its starting to play(counter is counting up) but no audio is playing. Id say the Roon ARC app works flawlessly 25 % of the time i use it. The other 75% i switch to something else because of connectivity issues or playback issues. Most the of the music library is 320MP3, FLAC or WAV, nothing high bitrate, almost all of it is just CD quality. Are there any settings i need to adjust to improve the function of the Roon ARC app as this is the sole reason for trying Roon? The second issue is the library doesn't seem to re-scan automatically. I have all my music organized by folder structure /year/month/genre so that is how i browse to find what to listen to, i added my December folder and the Roon ARC app doesn't see the December folder. i had to force rescan in order to see it, is there a setting somewhere that i need to enable to make this work properly? I thought because i was browsing the folders it should just automatically see them as its accessing the filesystem. Thank you

Hello @David_Estabrook ,

Welcome to the forum and to Roon!

Please note that while Roon in a docker container can work, it is not something that we test for and you may run into issues in this kind of configuration. Have you had a chance to test for the issues when using any bare-metal OSs?

Can you let us know a few examples of the exact local time + date + track when you next observe the issue occur? We’ll enable diagnostics to see if logs have any clues.

How is ARC connected when you are having these issues, is it on a different WiFi network or through cellular LTE/5G?

Some operating systems don’t properly report file share changes from what we’ve seen. Have you been able to configure an automatic rescan interval for the share? You can do this in Roon Settings → Storage → 3-dot menu.
