Roon ARC Crashing, Additional Roon Symptoms

The problem persists for me. Even with RoonCore Version 2.0 (build 1348) and Arc 1.0.44 build 100221. The Stream still stops after approximately 2 min. and the Android phone is lagging until Arc crashes.

ARC never crashed for me, the server would stop responding. Are you sure you have the same issue described here?

Looks like i got a combination of problems including the symptoms mentioned here. With the new early Release Version of the RoonCore it becomes unresponsive as well plus the other problem mentioned above. Quickly reading through all of those post here there are more people writing about Arc crashing

Hi @ToKr,

Thank you for your post. We’ve split your topic into a dedicated thread since the move to #earlyaccess hasn’t resolved symptoms from the previous thread.

Please give the following a try at your convenience, as we want to isolate a number of variables involved after reviewing available diagnostics:

  1. Disable any Roon Extensions temporarily and note any performance difference, particularly in Roon
  2. Your Roon library contains over 100,000 tracks unidentified by Roon’s metadata analysis. Can you please elaborate on the breakdown of your local library? More precisely, we’re curious about the following, as it will affect Roon’s handling of a number of background processes.
    a) How many local albums do you estimate you have with over 50 tracks?
    b) How many Albums do your top artists (by track count) have?
This information is available in indexed format if you navigate to Library → Artists and sort by Album Count. Click-hold on your top artists to Focus, and then click on the three dots at the top of the screen and select “Export” → “Excel”

Thank you!

Hi @connor

Thanks for getting back to me and splitting that topic up.
How i can i see there are 100k songs unidentified?

I have a bunch of remixed songs, dj-mixes recorded from radio and stuff like that.
I guess Roon will never be able to identify those. All the radio recorded mixes are usually from one show, which means i have given them one and the same album name.
Meaning there are probably many many albums with (way) more then 50 songs.( > 300 Songs +)
I would say there are probably about 120-150 + Albums containing more then 50 songs.
I could be totally off, difficult to say.

I have disabled all extensions but i have not noticed any performance change.

My top Artist apparently has 224 Albums (the majority are singles)
next one has 175 Albums, then 135…

Head to Library > My Tracks. Click Focus. Find Identified in Inspector and click it. This will give you all identified tracks and a purple button saying Identified. Click this button and it will turn red, now showing all tracks that are not identified.

To see the number, select one track. There will be a menu top left saying „1 selected“. Click the menu and choose Select All, then it will show you the number

@connor

I have had a look at the ‘Unidentified’ tracks. Among them and i would say the vast majority are popular tracks/Albums from e.g. 50 cent, Frank Sinatra, Rollins Band, Astrud Gilberto or Roisin Murphy which i expect Roon to be able to identify.
They all are tagged properly as well, in case that is of interest?
There also are remixed songs and the earlier mentioned recordings of mixes taken from radio stations.

Hi @ToKr,

Thank you again for your patience here.

The staged update of our most recent Roon version should have reached all RoonServers at this point. Have symptoms improved at all? We resolved at least one issue that was most likely affecting your ecosystem. We will have a look at more recent diagnostic reports from your RoonServer, at your convenience.

hey @connor
i am afraid that this update didn’t bring any improvements. A change in behaviour seems to have happened. The music still stops playing after approx. 2 min (today at 09.29 am) but Arc doesn’t completly crash but instead goes blank and then tells me i am offline. Despite that i can continue playing the song.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
T.
